Commercial Description:
Cherry saison is concurrent with the best of summer weather. The days are long and warm, and the spring blossoms have gracefully turned to plump drupes. Much in the same way, our Imperial Cherry Saison undergoes subtle but noticable changes while cruising from kettle to bright tank. Like the sun ripening fruit, a pit stop makes this beer better. Cherry Saison is aged with French Oak staves, imparting overtones of spice and balancing the natural sweetness of the cherries. Cherry Saison is the first in this series to incorporate oak aging. Enjoy it as a dessert beer, or tilt it back while sitting under a shady tree on a warm summer afternoon.

Cloudy honey pour. Nose is cardomon, candy sugar, and erl grey. Flavour is beaugomot with an oaky white pepper taste. Full in the mouth, but quite hot on the finish. Very enjoyable but no real cherry flavour. Fruitiness could be from the yeast alone.

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 5 Sep 2008) Copper colour with brief, frothy, white head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with spicy hops and hints of cherries and yeast. Malty, spicy taste with dryish cherry notes and harsh, spicy hops in a fairly dry, bitter finish. Not very much cherry character, but lots more of saison character (thankfully). Quite a nice one.

Slightly cloudy golden pour with lots of active carbonation streamers and a nice fluffy white head. Aroma is woodsy, with yeast and a hint of cherries. Cherries really come out in the flavor. High carbonation, alcohol comes at you hard up front for 8%. Doughy, musty and spicy back-end. Lingering booziness and more wood notes. Good enough.

(draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Clear gold color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is wheaty and yeasty with a hint of cherries. Not a whole lot though. Flavor isn’t balanced very well. The cherries start strong but die quickly and leaves a flavor of yeast and champagne. Rather bubbly on the tongue. Could have used some more cherry flavor.

Bomber: Pours a cloudy golden with a large sized white head that lingers. Aroma has wheat notes, a bit of sourness, light amount of cherries, and an overall bready scent to this brew. Taste is somewhat tart cherries, other intermingled fruits, wheat, and just disappears on the palate. The mouthfeel is put front really nice, but finishes into nothing with hardly and aftertaste. Overall, Meh...It’s alright. Would I go out of my way to get another bottle? No! I’d rather get the Hoppe or Unearthly.

Poured a hazy yellowish orange color with a small off white head. Aroma was a little spicey and sweet but not sign of cherries at all. Flavorwas pretty bland not very complex in the spices, nothing bad, just really bland and no sign of cherries, only plus is the covering up of the alcohol.

Courtesy growler. Pours a clear golden color with a very small white head that dissapears quickly. The aroma is strange one for a saison with some bready yeast, a touch of light fruits, and some floral hops. There was no traces of cherries or spices at all. The flavor is slightly sweet with some vanilla, floral and yeasty characters. Soem more light fruits are present, but just no cherries to be found. Medium bodied with a thin sugary mouthfeel. It goes down and smooth and is easy drinking, which helps a bit. I was hoping for more cherries and was definitely disappointed with this one, especially coming from these guys.
