Commercial Description:
Cherry saison is concurrent with the best of summer weather. The days are long and warm, and the spring blossoms have gracefully turned to plump drupes. Much in the same way, our Imperial Cherry Saison undergoes subtle but noticable changes while cruising from kettle to bright tank. Like the sun ripening fruit, a pit stop makes this beer better. Cherry Saison is aged with French Oak staves, imparting overtones of spice and balancing the natural sweetness of the cherries. Cherry Saison is the first in this series to incorporate oak aging. Enjoy it as a dessert beer, or tilt it back while sitting under a shady tree on a warm summer afternoon.

A beautiful golden pour with fain white head. Sweet wheat aroma with a little funk and faint hints of cherry. A thick body with faint yeast bit and a surprisingly thick mouthfeel. The earthy flavor is balanced by a faint cherry flavor on the finish and a distinct yeasty bite as the beer fades. On tap at Stub & Herbs.

Bottle. Dark hazy yellow, small white head. Really interesting cherry and must aroma - lots of sourness as well - very interesting! Taste is fantastic - sweet, but also a strong saison in there as well, lots of alcohol present. All backed up by that mustyness that was present in aroma. I’m not sure quite what to make of it, but I did really like the flavour.

Hazy golden with a tight head. Nice aroma of dry malts with some cherry juice sweetness. Smooth medium body. Flavors of dry clove and spicy bready malts temper a sweet cherry juice taste. Sort of a strong euro lager with clove and cherry, this brew works fairly well.

Bottle courtesy of growler. Pours hazy straw-orange color with white head. Weird bad fruit aroma. Clove and spice flavors dominate. Slight flavors coming through from the oak. Cherries? - I think the forgot ’em. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Disappointing.

Thanks to JoeMcphee for this one! Transparent gold pour with thin fizzy head. Very weird aroma. Not much cherry and alot of funk.. Dry finish with notable hints diacetyl.

22oz from MrBendo - thanks, Todd! Pours a clear pale copper color, with a faint fizzy carbonation. Strange aroma for sure, with absolutely no cherry whatsoever but a kind of bland, generic farmhouse aroma at about the level of Weyerbacher’s seriously unimpressive Muse. Touch of diacetyl in there, along with some decently flavorful yeasts and a mildly dry finish - I guess in a pinch you could say there was a bit of black cherry there? Anyways, even leaving out the way in which this seems to be anything but what it advertises, it’s not up to the level of this fine brewery’s other offerings. Pass.

22oz bottle. At first I thought this thing was infected. (Other who have tried me assured me thats not the case). Horrible rotten vegetable aroma, very light cherry aroma thats more reminiscent of cough syrup. Hazy Straw color. Lightly bitter with little spice or cherry this is just a mess of a beer. From such a well regarded brewery this was very suprising and very disappointing. Time to go back to the drawing board with this beer guys.
