Commercial Description:
Cherry saison is concurrent with the best of summer weather. The days are long and warm, and the spring blossoms have gracefully turned to plump drupes. Much in the same way, our Imperial Cherry Saison undergoes subtle but noticable changes while cruising from kettle to bright tank. Like the sun ripening fruit, a pit stop makes this beer better. Cherry Saison is aged with French Oak staves, imparting overtones of spice and balancing the natural sweetness of the cherries. Cherry Saison is the first in this series to incorporate oak aging. Enjoy it as a dessert beer, or tilt it back while sitting under a shady tree on a warm summer afternoon.

Pours a hazy golden orange color with a thick 1.5 finger frothy off-white head with good retention slowly fading into a lasting ring. Minimal lacing. Very fruity cherry aroma with some slight earthy oak tartness. Slight crisp fruit and strong alcohol presence. Earthy oak flavor with a decnt amount of vanilla and a lot of sweet cherry and cherry juice flavor. Hints of candy sugar and subtle bitter hops. Pretty carbonated up front with sour oak and cherry sweetness. Hoppy bitter dry and slightly sour finish.

Bottled. Aroma has cherries, citrus, marzipan and some yeast. Bit hazy, golden coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste was sweet, was a bit citric and has the marzipan cherries again. Medium bodied beer. Not my thing.

The appearance is golden with a slight orange tint to it. The head is average for the style. The aroma is chemical with burnt plastic and yeast. There is some malt and a bit of cherries. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth but nothing special. Overall this beer is hardly better than an average beer.

Not as bad as some notice as the cherry flavor was somewhat subdued. The underlying saison was not horrible. The cherry flavoring, while not overwhelming, was kinda artificial in taste. Good, but no need to seek out, really.

Bottle from some random dude at Lost Abbey (pre-stone 143th anniversary party). I was kinda wasted but trying to remember. It was a golden clear color with small head. Flavor was mildly sweet from the cherries with a dry finish. I thought it was very enjoyable.

22oz Bomber – 99 Bottles – Federal Way, WA
Aroma: Nice light fruit aroma with a nice malt backing. Some Oak was also getting through.
Appearance: Golden in color, Clear with a light head.
Flavor: Malty with light fruit flavors and the oak was subtle but detectable. A very nice fruit beer.
Palate: Dry Finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: This was a great fruit beer . Wow Southern Tier is doing something very special up in NY.

22oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear golden color with a one finger thick off white head. Ick, nose of funky almost rotten cherries with a slight saison funk. I really don’t wanna write any more, drain pour.
