Commercial Description:
Cherry saison is concurrent with the best of summer weather. The days are long and warm, and the spring blossoms have gracefully turned to plump drupes. Much in the same way, our Imperial Cherry Saison undergoes subtle but noticable changes while cruising from kettle to bright tank. Like the sun ripening fruit, a pit stop makes this beer better. Cherry Saison is aged with French Oak staves, imparting overtones of spice and balancing the natural sweetness of the cherries. Cherry Saison is the first in this series to incorporate oak aging. Enjoy it as a dessert beer, or tilt it back while sitting under a shady tree on a warm summer afternoon.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle. Appearance: Slightly pinkish gold with a very small, foamy white head. The head was gone in seconds. Aroma: A little funky. Sour cherry notes, some hay, and cherry syrup. Taste: Sour cherries, alcohol, paper, oak, and a slight medicinal note. An odd mix for sure and I have to say, it doesn’t work very well. Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation with a light body and a medium, oaky finish. Overall: Just a bit to bizarre to be enjoyable in my mind. I thought it was a bit of a mess. Rebuy: No.

Orange pour. Light malt and fruit aroma, with a touch of floral hops and citrus. Fairly hoppy and bitter, with the oak coming in to the picture. Slight citrus finish. Not very fruity or sour, and it seems more like a respectable hoppy ale than a saison.

Imperial Cherry Saison thanks to Secret Santa. White head, hazy gold body. Grape juice and wheat, vanilla. Taste astringent, wheat, metallic, hint of cherry, tart, wood...not oak, more saw dust. Dry. Lightly tannic. A bit of Robitussin as it warms.

"ale brewed with cherries & aged with oak" This beer pours golden in color and has the subtlest of hazes. The head is mild but leaves some ring lace. It recedes to a single level of bubbles fairly soon after the pour. Typical soured aroma I associate with French Biere de Garde. I cannot detect any cherries nor any hop. More dry than most Saisons. Some hop shows up in the swallow, but the aftertaste is very short. OK body, high carbonation--typical for the style. I cannot detect any effects from the oak aging. Overall, I’m not all that interested in this version.

Well, to be fair this is my first saison, so I am not really sure what this beer is suppose to taste like. That being said, I’m not dissapointed, it’s a tasty beer. Pours a manuka honey colour with no head, The aroma is oak, big oak, some more oak, and then the slightest wiff of cherry. I think maybe they got a little carried away with the oak. The flavour reflects that opinion, with oak being the dominant flavour in the scheme of things, a little spice, a touch of tarntess, but really no cherry, only in the aftertaste does the cherry come through. Heavy syrup mouthfeel. That being said, I did actually enjoy this beer, I just feel that It could have been much better. It certainly could be more balanced.

creamy honeysuckle oak and a hint of sweet cherry/cough syrup. clear bright gold, small sticky strong white head. i can’t drink this, the oak is strongly tannic over the delicate beer. i have to admit i didn’t like the looks of the description, it seemed to contradict itself, and indeed that’s what i find in my mouth. comes across to me like someone played mad libs and created the funniest idea.

SOUTHERN TIERS CREME BRULEE IS SIMPLY AMAZING SO I WAS EXCITED WHEN I SAW THIS BEER. HOWEVER THE FEELING LEFT WHEN I TRIED IT, THIS BEER HAS A SLIGHT HINT OF CHERRY BUT PREDOMINATELY TASTES OF OAK WHICH ISNT THE MOST PLEASANT FLAVOR COMING FROM AN ALCOHOL BEVERAGE THAT IS ONLY 8%, DONT GET ME WRONG THIS BEER ISNT BAD ITS JUST NOT GREAT AND FAR FROM WHAT I EXPECTED.
