Commercial Description:
Cherry saison is concurrent with the best of summer weather. The days are long and warm, and the spring blossoms have gracefully turned to plump drupes. Much in the same way, our Imperial Cherry Saison undergoes subtle but noticable changes while cruising from kettle to bright tank. Like the sun ripening fruit, a pit stop makes this beer better. Cherry Saison is aged with French Oak staves, imparting overtones of spice and balancing the natural sweetness of the cherries. Cherry Saison is the first in this series to incorporate oak aging. Enjoy it as a dessert beer, or tilt it back while sitting under a shady tree on a warm summer afternoon.

Not as bad as some notice as the cherry flavor was somewhat subdued. The underlying saison was not horrible. The cherry flavoring, while not overwhelming, was kinda artificial in taste. Good, but no need to seek out, really.

Bottle. Pours a deep golden that shows yellow at the sides in lighty, Head is soapy and white and dissipates from modest bulk in to a thin whispy layer. Rich aroma is slightly sweet with the notes of cherry, and vanilla from the barrel. Rather tart, with an acidic bitter finish. Body shows the cherry sweetness Rich and full bodied.

Bottle:   Dull golden, hazy, thin white sudsy head, falls quickly, sparce lacing.   Barnish nose, musty, slight alcohol, otherwise soft wood and perhaps subtle cherry.   Saison like, but fairly mealy.   Cherry aspect is subtle, same as the wood.   Feels heavier than most Saisons.   Body and mouthfeel are full to moderate.   Lingering spiciness after the finish.   Its very American like in that it is mealy, but it also shows subtle hints of cherry and barrel aging.   Interesting concoction.

Bottle. Clear gold body with a white, fizzy head. Pretty weak aroma of cherries, slighty artificial cherries. The flavor contained a mild cherry flavor, unfortunately an artificial one. Perfumes, spices, sweet, slightly tart, marzipan? Sweet and disappointing.

Bottle. Natural cherry aroma. Golden amber body with a thin head. Strong cherry flavor followed by spice/ wheat and malts. Dry with a bit of a sour aftertaste. Did not taste as complex as described, but still enjoyable

22 oz. bottle from Ludow Wines. Pours a slightly cloudy gold with a one-finger white head. Aroma of cherry, oak, farmhouse funk, honey, yeast, and alcohol. Light cherry flavor, with a good balancing aged oak, warming alcohol, caramel, yeast, and sweet malts. Medium bodied and sweet, with a touch of tartness from the cherries and a smooth quality from the malts and honey. Very nice, drinkable beer that I wish I had tried a little fresher rather than sitting on it for a few months.

Bottle 650ml. @ home.
[ Trade by BDR ]. Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy hoppy, perfume - soap, wood, coriander, fruity notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, spicy, peppery, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to lively. [20091012]

Pours a golden honey colored liquid. One inch head of loose creamy white foam. Minimizes to a thin layer of white bubbles fairly quickly, but they stick around. Lacing is minimally spotty. Definite cherry smell, although it is light. Hints of oak. Slight band aid notes. Light yeasty quality. The woody oak flavor comes through, fairly strong. Yeasty and breadlike. Very light touch of cherry presence. Not as much as expected. Light hints of caramel malts and a touch of hops. Maybe the oak-aging overpowered the cherry presence. Light body, with a sharp finish. Not as creamy as expected. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Although this beer is not exactly what I envisioned it to be, it is light, refreshing, well balanced and pretty darn drinkable.
