Aroma of intense chocolate with a possibility of vanilla. The taste has a sweet chocolate flavor like a milkshake. The mouthfeel is pretty interesting, you don’t taste the 11% but it was kind of prickly on the tongue at first then the sweet chocolate comes through and finishes with a dry bitterness. Don’t think i could drink more then one !!!! ljay6880 (146), , Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a dark black, but when held up to a light, kind of looks like thin melted chocolate. The smell is heaven if you are a chocolate fan. The taste is a blend of sweet at first, with a finish of bitter unsweetened chocolate. The alcohol is so well hidden that I had to double check the 11% rating a couple times! A fantastic chocolate stout. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

This has been on my want list for awhile so huge props to him for bringing this one. Pours a muddy dark brown, almost black with a thin small chocolate head. Insane nose of pure belgian chocolate and raisin. Intense and hugely aromatic, the best smelling chocolate beer I’ve ever smelled. Flavor is intense cocoa up front with a bit of roast but its pretty mild. Dark fruity malt sweetness in the middle then a gigantic nutty chocolate finish. Sorta like peanut M&M’s but with much better chocolate. The mouthfeel is a little thin compared to some of the best imperial stouts but the alcohol is reasonably well hidden and this is so drinkable that its scary. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 9, 2009 Oily black with an impressive viscosity, she pours like melted chocolate into my eagerly awaiting glass. A dark khaki ring of foam lingers, though there is no head to speak of. That’s fine with me. She would have only gotten in the way of the sweet, succulent, gooey chocolate assault which is already heading my way. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, fresh cream, wood, and vanilla blend in an orgy of sensual temptation. Eyes closed, I take a moment to bask in her heavenly embrace before delving into her liquid sex. Thick, full, mouth-coating chocolates melt with rich vanilla cream while soft wood notes whisper in the background. A faint dryness lingers on top of my tongue in what is otherwise a full-bodied brew. Each quaff is a melting, ooey gooey manage of chocolates held together by rich decadent cream with fresh vanilla. From time to time, a wisp of coffee comes out to play before being smothered in further chocolate. Can I have some fresh New York cheesecake to pour this over, please, along with a glass to savor? Truly decadent and truly naughty in every single way possible, my Southern Tier Imperial Choklat Stout is the best X-rated beer experience I have enjoyed to date.
Make no doubt of it; Southern Tier knows exactly what they are doing. Their ability to bring maximum flavor to the playing field while maintaining a perfect balance is matched by few. Each sip of my Imperial Choklat Stout was truly a beergasmic experience. On a candlelit night, we shall snuggle and cuddle and spoon and whisper sweet nothings in each other’s ear. Then and only then is truly everything right with the world. arrogantb (705), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2009 Bomber courtesy of vwcraig. Dark black color, egg-shell colored head which is less than minimal. First smell was like opening a hershey bar and then cracking it in half. Subsequent sniffs give off tootsie rolls and cocoa powder. The taste is very good if you like chocolate milkshakes! I can’t taste the alcohol which is good since it is high! Overall, if you are looking for a dessert beer or just have a sweet tooth, this one is for you.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 6, 2009 Just cracked open a bottle of this and forgot how good it is!! Colour... black with a thin tan head. Nose...a blend of sweet dark and milk chocolate. Palate... lightly carbonated, with lots o’ thick, sweet, dark chocolate from the front of the palate to the back. Slightly burnt character and lightly roasty with a very loooooong, sweet and, yes, chocolatey, finish. Food of the gods? Lucky bums!
