Commercial Description:
“the ancients called it ‘food for the gods’“ The Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya, unfolds a complex web of mystery around a beverage known as xocoatl (ch-co-atle). At Southern Tier, we’re not surprised that hieroglyphs of the ancient Maya depict chocolate being poured for rulers and gods. Even through the many voyages of Columbus, the mystical bean remained nothing more than a strange currency of the native peoples. Moving through centuries, the circular journey of cacao has been realized in our brewing house, encompassing the complexity of the darkest, bitter-sweet candy together with the original frothy cold beverage of the ancient Maya to bring to you our Blackwater Series Choklat Stout. We have combined the finest ingredients to tempt your senses & renew the power & interrelation of history in every bottle.

If you want chocolate here you go! Poured oily black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate. Tons of bitter chocolate. A little hot. Should be great with a year on it.

This is an amazing impy stout. Absolutely loaded with intense, creamy chocolate flavors. ST definitely nailed this one!

Courtesy of Nbutler11, thanks Nick, I have been looking forward to this! The color is black with a weak, red hue and a creamy head. The aroma is a massive attack of chocolate with hints of cocoa and filled chocolates. The flavour has sweetness, not cloying, and the same notes as the aroma and a light coffee bitterness in the finish. In the beginning it is absolutely wonderful, but in the long run 66 cc is too much for sharing between 2 persons. So nice yes, but in small quantities.

Bottle. High fluffy and long lasting light brown head. This time the beer really is pitch black. Absolutely no light through the glass. Powerful and lovely sweet creamy orange choccolate aroma. Simple but good. Intensive slighltly bitter choccolate flavor. Aftertaste long lasting and lovely bitter. Low carbonation. Man I like it.

Poured black with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate syrup. Creamy with hot fudge and milky notes. Roasted malts and sugars in the finish. Insanely drinkable for 11%.

Rating no. 5000. Thanks a bunch for this one Plovmand. Pours a deep dark brown colour with a medium creamish head. Even though the glass a foot away I can very much indeed smell the sweet chocolate racing up my nose. Great filling sticky thick mouthfeel. The flavour is bustling with sweet dark chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, alcohol and chococlate. Very sweet and bitter chocolate long lasting finish. This is THE chococlate bomb of a beer. Actually mu beer no. 5000 was a blind tasted good home brew from Plovmand, which got 3,7. :-)

Bottle. Black body with a creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel and loads of chocolate. The flavour is very sweet malty and heavy sweet chocolate. Its way too much and overpowers almost any other tasting notes. The body is thick and smooth but its like drinking cocoa milk.

Bottle shared by plovmand. Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet, milk chocolate with notes of coconut and alcohol. Flavor is also milk chocolate and alcohol with notes of coconut and a strong bitter aftertaste. Unbalanced.
