Wow, this thing smells just like a tootsie roll. Big chocolate on the nose with some sweetness and roast. Flavor is all chocolate at first. Then it settles down on the palate and caramel begins to come out. Very nice texture with a creamy mouthfeel. Just a touch of bittersweet chocolate on the finish. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Translucent with a caramel cola color. Saw dust and a solo tan bubble reside on top. Aroma underscores the importance of chocolate to the beverage. Decadent bitter sweet Belgian chocolates, cocoa nibs and fudge morsel brownies course through the nose with a ribbon of caramel cream. Cocoa dust and hazelnuts. It’s one to sniff for hours. Phenomenal iterations of mocha brownies lovingly diffuse throughout the mouth. An ominous, cocoa dust deciduous character simultaneously parleys with a thick, melting fudge ribbon prior to slide down the throat as one. Chocolate toffee bars get put to the flame and aid the gooey drip of full palate dominion. Powdery cocoa nibs, Belgian chocolate shavings, mild bitterness and bittersweet chocolate tie the prettiest bow on a delicatessen drink made in heaven. patrick767 (2049), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 9, 2008 bottle at Fort Wayne tasting - Pours black with a thin, tan head. It has an intense chocolate aroma with the dark roast malts. As for the flavor, holy chocolate, Batman! The roasty, dark chocolate heavy flavor is very enjoyable. It’s full bodied and finishes with some mild, dry bitterness. Excellent. matt7215 (981), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Dark aromatic after dinner style stout. Much drier than I was anticipating, sort of a dry coco flavor that is nice. The nose is big and full of chocolate, duh. Good stuff. Vas19 (299), Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Really awesome chocolate aroma. And I mean really awesome. Pours like oil, thin tan head. There is a really nice chocolate taste at first, but then this becomes overpowered by a dry alcohol flavor. Maybe I would like this better if it was aged for a while. Potential to be really good, but just needs to balance out the alcohol better in my opinion. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Strongest chocolate aroma I’ve ever smelled! only a hint of coffee makes it through. Pours a very dark brown that just looks like liquid chocolate with a nice creamy tan head that leaves a little lacing. Strong chocolate taste at first mixed with espresso, but the espresso is what lingers, melding with a malty aftertaste that gives testament to the 11% ABV. Not as delicious as the aroma implies, but still a strong beer. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Motor oil pour, solid black with no head. Smells like chocolate milk. The flavor is more complex, with mint, vanilla, huge milk chocolate, alcohol. In no way subtle but still well executed. Does it have to be 11%?
