Commercial Description:
“a stout of great contention” We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crème Brûlée, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 10.0% abv • 25º plato • 195º L • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

I’ll be honest with you, I love creme Brulee. I do, I’m a Creme Brulee fan. For my money, it doesn’t get any better than when it sings "When a man loves a woman". Pitch motherfuckin’ Black. Starts with some impressive looking head in a nice chocolate-milk suit. The nose is like snorting an actual creme brulee, then going out on the streets and wrecking shit. This nose is off the hook...sweet, vanilla custard...pudding. Flavors are somewhat sweet and very vanilla custard like...The hopping is actually quite brisk, yet the mouthfeel remains soft and creamy. The finish hides a little roasty imperial stout qualities, but until then, it’s sweet creamy vanilla custard.

Black color with a nice dark head. Aroma smells like cake frosting. I never thought I’d have a beer that smells like THAT! Taste is really sweet. It almost taste like a beer made from frosting. A true Creme Brulee! This is more of a dessert beer. I tried mixing it with Long Trail coffee stout and it was amazing.

Yeah, it tastes like creme brulee, I guess. Caramel, chocolate and alcohol both in the aroma and flavor. Nothing too complex or worth writing home about.

Clear dark brown color, smallish tan head. Fudge, buttery, sweet, sugar, caramel, ice-cream scent. Caramel, fudge, butter, coffee, dry, ice-cream taste. Coffee, roasted, dry aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Ice-cream with toffee this one, though more fun than good, a small glass is enough, a bomber split on two is a bit too much.

This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a semi-opaque dark ruby red brown colored body and a poor lacing. The very nice WOW! aroma was butterscotch and toffee. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a strong hoppy aftertaste. The very nicely yummy flavor contained notes of strong hops dark malt and was mildly vinous. A wonderful best in class brew.

Bottle. Thanks to Stobbe74. Pours pitch black with a small creamy head and lacings. Very sweet nose and taste. Vanilla, buiscuit, chocolate, syrup, kahlua. One dimensional and somehow synthetic. Smooth and full palate. Interesting desert!
