Commercial Description:
“a stout of great contention” We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crème Brûlée, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 10.0% abv • 25º plato • 195º L • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

This one was a little over the top on the on the flavors...reminded me of a wawa caramel latte. Caramel and vanilla dominate this extremely sweet beer. Definately a desert beer; would make a great beer float with a scoop of ice cream.

Pours black with a small light brown head. Wow, strong aroma of vanilla, caramelized sugar, and a bit of coffee. Duplicated in the flavor quite well with vanilla bean spiked coffee and sweet cream, with just enough piny hops towards the finish to even out the sweetness. Palate is full and smooth like semi-bitter vanilla ice cream.

bottle. drank a whole one to myself, believe it or not. blakish-brown color but lighter ruby-mahogany at the edges. darkish tan thin creamy head. aroma is like butterscotch schnapps, with vanilla beans and toffee, some chocolate malts. smelled like a creme brulee left on a stovetop overnight at the low setting - carmelized to the point of just carbonizing. flavor was denser but more one-dimensional - sticky syrupy burnt toffee malt, some licorice and coconut, a little alcohol heat, and on the verge of cloying. some lactose in the malt, a bit of coffee and chocolate, but just too much condensed sweetness, somewhat artificial tasting. probly meant for 12oz bottles to be shared.

Pretty interesting and unique. If you want some sweetness this is your thing. Aroma is like the toasted brown sugar of a creme brulee. The flavor is slightly chocolate and very sweet. Some roasted malt on the finish. Pretty creamy texture. Perfect dessert beer but I’m not sure I could reach for this on a regular basis based on all the sugary lip smacking I have done with this one this evening.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black colour with carbonation bubbles present. Practically no head. Yummy aroma of crème, vanilla, caramel, toffee, malts, and sugar. Smells like Ben and Jerry’s Crème Brûlée ice cream. Flavour of chocolate, vanilla, lactose, sugar, toffee and caramel. Lightly carbonated. A bit sweet but pretty delicious.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy thin tan head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, butterscotch, vanilla bean and notes of chocolate. flavor was extremely sweet with intense vanilla, butterscotch candy, sticky caramel, chocolate cake and a touch of toffee with a creamy texture and has a rich sweet and boozy finish.
