Mar 8, 2009 Updated: Mar 10, 2009Great good god, another overwhelming pretentious Impy. Nose must be pulled rom glass and then it assaults you with a tsunami of vailla and wet slimy oakiness. Creamy? Clotted cream and margarine tones followed by vomitouriously sweet malts lead up to a lingering burnt finish. Not sure iof they are attempting to over impress me or kill me. Thin head dissipates expediously on top of the deep deep brown. Very little light gets thru the glass. Droopy consistent lacing. I finished half the bomber and poured the rest. Enough is enough. After thinking about this trainwreck I had to re rate and lower my score.

Mar 6, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Dark brown, large creamy tan head, fine, reticulated lace. Lots of caramel in the aroma, but big doses of chocolate and vanilla fight for prominence. Thick and smooth mouthfeel, full body, lots of richness. Quite sweet, but in a good way, and a very subtle bitterness is welcome at the finish.

Mar 2, 2009 The intense butterscotch flavor is the first thing you noticed upon cracking this baby open. Smells incredible. Very dark brown beer with a disappointingly thin head that vanished quickly. Flavor is an incredible mix of roasted malts and butterscotch. It actually tastes almost exactly like a caramel frappucino in the best possible way. A very delicious beer which holds the 10% well.

Mar 2, 2009 Pours a deep dark red with a thin tan head. Nose is heavy butterscotch and caramelized sugar. Flavor is incredible! Caramel porter by Saranac tried to be butterscotchy and failed. Southern Tier pulled it off perfectly. Not too sweet. A slight taste of alcohol. Slightly roasted bitterness on the finish with a nice warming effect. Mouthfeel is full and slightly oily. Lacing, like the head, kind of disappointing.

Feb 25, 2009 Bottle opened by Ryan at the bottle shop. Thank Ryan. Another nose pounding beer from Southern Tier. I don’t know how they do it. Huge vanilla bean and caramel aroma. Smells very sweet, but the taste is only slightly sweet. Delicious. I don’t the other people like it as much as me.

Feb 24, 2009 Updated: Nov 28, 2009On tap, Coles, Buffalo. Appearance: Black body with a brown head. Aroma - wow, I feel silly saying it, but JUST like Creme Brulee, Awesome. Flavour: Melted creme brulee with malt, alcohol and coffee. Rerate: Bottle from LCBO. Pitch black with the tiniest brown head, barely noticeable.. Aroma: Metallic at first making way to an absolute bomb of a Creme Brulee - wow... so similar it’s uncanny. Flavour: Sticky initially and a lot of coffee and dark chocolate followed by a punch of creme brulee. Just lovely.

Feb 23, 2009 Poured black with a brown edge and small tan head. Huge caramel sauce, like from a sundae, aroma with notes of vanilla and a roasted malt base. The flavor has the same sweet caramel in it as the aroma. Also notes of burnt sugar. The sweetness is moderate to full but then disappears leaving a bitterness that seems to be more from burnt roasted malt than from hops on the finish. Medium bodied.

Feb 22, 2009 Bottle courtesy of markwise. Pours a dark brown to black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is ridiculous -- just too many smells to label -- but definitely notes of candy sugar, toffee, butterscotch, cream, vanilla, caramel, almost like smelling a fresh tiramisu cake. Flavor is ridiculous as well -- Amazingly complex array of coconut, cream. vanilla, custard, ripe dark fruit, liquor, coffee, toffee and other notes. Generally medium body with a sweet and syrupy finish. Amazingly different beer.
