Commercial Description:
“a stout of great contention” We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crème Brûlée, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 10.0% abv • 25º plato • 195º L • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

Black colored beer with a poorly colored (a bit too light) tan head. Nose is a bit off balance with caramel and vanilla bean hints, chocolate and milk. Flavor is interesting and unique, with flavors completely dominated by non-malt ingredients (lactose, vanilla beans,) with other light notes of chocolate and mocha. Kind of like it, don’t want to pour it out like Choklat. Pretty tasty.

Bomber. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of vanilla and caramel. Sweet taste of vanilla with some faint smoke and caramel. Even finish.

Pours black with a tan head and a lot of bubbles. More carbonation than I would have thought. The smell is a strong vanilla and vanilla-flavored alcohol. A little caramel in there, too. The taste is super-sweet. A lot of vanilla and a slight kick from the alcohol. I really don’t think I could finish an entire bottle. It is just too sweet. However, it is very good and a very distinct beer. I really enjoy it, I just wish I could have gotten it in a 12oz. or possibly 8oz. Share it with friends.

online order from Canal Liquor. As if Pumpking wasn’t enough, this has even the same if not more smell. I swear I thought it was a piece of caramel. I do have to say that this was way to sweet for my liking. I still enjoyed, but very sweet. Mouthfell was medium with low carbination. This was very hard for me to finish, even with sharing

Very thin head of fine bubbles from a somewhat vigorous pour. Minimal carbonation. AMAZING aroma! Super sweet with loads of vanilla, heavy cream, chocolate malt, caramel and a hint of black cheery in the background. Color is a very dark brown. Flavor is sweet but not as sweet as I expected based on the liquid sugar aroma. Lots of chocolate creme. The kind you get in the middle of a chocolate cream Dunkin Donut. Some roasted hazelnut coffee, more vanilla and some sweet molasses. Noticable alcohol presence. Creamy smooth palate. Bit of dryness at the finish which is surprising for a brew with this much sweetness. Lingering roastyness and vanilla. A pretty darn good brew but certainly not for everyone. Wow, really having trouble going deep into this brew. This may be a struggle to finish. Would have been better in a 12 oz bottle.

500ml bomber bottle. Sweet alcohol-infused vanilla bean aroma. Deep black portery color, not quite as thick as most Imperial Stouts. The taste is rich, smooth, and balanced. Vanilla-chocolate dominates, and smooths out the mouthfeel. Some delicate alcohol warming in the aftertaste. This is an excellent beer, another great bomber from Southern Tier.

Another beer that although I was really impressed at the flavor they achieved it wasn’t something I really cared for. This brew tastes like pure icing, sweet honey/cream, sticky vanilla and butterscotch. Pours very dark brown with a smooth khaki head.
