Oct 31, 2008 22oz bottle, fresh. The pour is oily black with no head. Just black and deep. The aroma is deep vanilla and roast. Actually resembles capuchino in aroma. The flavor is a bit more complex. There is the vanilla and then a background of roast. There is also a toffee character. A really interesting mix. Kinda like a heath bar. I wonder how it will age? The body is thick and sticky, chewy.

Oct 30, 2008 Bottle. Deep brown colour with a small mocha head. Absolutely rockin’ aroma of vanilla and caramel with hints of cream, maple, brandy and cocoa. Flavour follows the aroma note for note. Body is full and slightly sticky. I can see why some people wouldn’t dig this - the sweetness is verging on being cloying - but alongside a few rich chocolate truffles, this is a fantastic dessert brew. Yum!

Oct 25, 2008 Bottle, courtesy of GodOfThunder. Pours a thin-ish dark brown with a very thin off white head. The nose is incredibly sweet with vanilla, maple, some chocolate, very much like creme brulee. This is sweet, chocolate more pronounce in the flavor, again, lots of vanilla and maple, a little coffee, the alcohol is hidden well. Medium to low carb, and feels a little thin for a such a big stout.

Oct 25, 2008 This is one of the most unusual and unique beers I’ve ever sampled. Probably not everyone’s cup of brew, but if you like sweet dessert vanilla-flavored beers you gotta try it out. Pours a ebony color with brown hues. Creates a solid 1/2’ dense light tan head. Aroma is a pure blast of fresh cut vanilla bean, french vanilla ice cream and whipped dessert topping. Mouthfeel is fluffy and light with a silky smoothness. This is a sugary-sweet beer and would go great with a piece of dark chocoate cake. Flavors of vanilla cream, butterscotch, milk chocolate and a touch of dark rum come through. The only downside is that I’ve brewed a few pure vanilla bean stouts and porters and the taste of real vanilla bean is definitely a bit different and more subtle. This stout’s taste reveals more of a french vanilla extract flavor than that of the bean itself. The 10% alcohol is quietly warming and smooth. Not one I’d go back to often but worth the experience.

Oct 24, 2008 Bomber bottle. poured a thinnish black. Nose of vanilla,alcohol, and caramel. Taste follows along those same lines. Very sweet, than somewhat bitter. Sweetness is a bit too much and lends to cloying.An interesting concept, a dessert stout but I am not loving it so much in reality.

Oct 24, 2008 This beer fails. Easily detectable artificial flavor(s), chemicals in beer is a major turn off to me, i think they attempted to hide this flavor with the sweetness, but all they accomplished was an overly, almost undrinkably sweet candy beer. This beer has truly gotten away from them, it has joined Miller Lite in the ’’More Taste League’’ another company which clearly uses chemicals in its beer. Must keep rinsing my mouth out to get rid of the powerful lingering flavor(s).

Oct 22, 2008 From draught sample at Capone’s. I’ve been smelling this the whole time I had my other beers. Insanely sweet aroma, with vanilla and lactose. Like the overly sweet cappucino from a bad coffee shop. Way too sweet. Dark black clear with tan head. Medium-heavy body with medium light carbonation. Holy crap! is this stuff sweet! This is a shot drink to be purchased in a test tube from a bar wench, not poured into a pint glass. Just insane with sugar, lactose, vanilla, and syrup. Mild alcohol warming and roasted grains. Crikey - the tongue sores! Not again for me - this is like the too-sweet egg nog of beers.

Oct 21, 2008 Bottle shared by mmtmatrix, thanks Malcolm. Poured a deep brown/black color with some deep red edges and a thin off-white head that diminished to ring. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee grounds, caramel, vanilla, cream (lacto), and sugar. Smooth, overly sweet entry with some light coffee leads into some moderate chocolate, some caramel, and a strong vanilla bean presence. Sweet, much too sweet. Low carbonation, smooth and slick on the palate. I am going to save the one I got from AllAboutStout for about a year and see what happens.
