Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. The rich aroma of vanilla and butterscotch fill the air. After a few tastes, I wonder aloud ’How in the hell do I rate this?’ This is unlike any taste I have experienced in a beer. A rich butterscotch and vanilla flavor that gradually increases in burnt character as the glass warms. Truly a liquid example of the dessert that inspired this beverage. A marvelous dessert beer. 41cubs (149), , New Jersey, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Cannot over emphasize how much I suggest that the 22 ounces of this sucker be shared with 3 or 4 others. Very promising aroma of butterscotch, caramel, candied popcorn and dairy creamer followed by a ridiculouly rich, creamy, toasty tan head(which tasted amazing by the way). That promise quickly faded about 4oz. in while realizing that the beer was never going to gain any complexity. A never subtle barage of sugary waves bombard your senses as you work through this glucose beast. Waaaayyyyyyyy to sweet for my taste, especially throughout a 22oz. pour. Tasted like a thick version of those fake syrupy french vanilla concoctions that a bad coffee shop would make. Great, full 2%dairy like mouthfeel saved this rating from being in the cellar. This beer could be enjoyable as dessert at around 4 oz. to a serving. Totally unbalanced. JCastner (108), New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Standard color and head for the style. An aroma of butterscotch extract overpowered everything else in my sample. Taste was bitter butterscotch with a slight roasted toffee finish, very little malt characteristic with this one. I love Imperials but this was a poor example of the style. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA

Flavor is vanilla, cream, sugar, caramel, banana, powdered sugar, and a bit of orange citrus. Finished with an amazingly cloying sweetness. I can’t say I hated this, but I feel bad for the person that tries to drink more than a few ounces of this. tomthompson89 (1494), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Might mellow with ageing. zach8270 (2138), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma smells exactly like a good creme brulee. Cream and caramel dominate. The flavor is creme brulee mixed with chocolate, caramel, and dark malts. Lots of coffee at the finish. Smooth and silky and hides the alcohol well. oteyj (821), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Pours black with minimal head. Aroma the most powerful and pronounced I have smelled to date. Immense amounts of caramel. Literally smells like a river of caramel. Coffee and chocolate blaze through as well. Flavor is an amazing blend of caramel, chocolate, and loads of espresso. This is like no beer i’ve ever experienced and is a great example of a rut-breaking impy. This is truly a dessert beer. Palate is smooth and caresses the mouth and tongue. Wow. craftycarl21 (601), South Hero, Vermont, USA

Aroma is absolutely exquisite- Caramelized sugar, vanilla, cream, and butter. Flavor is similar, and oh so sweet and decadent. Sweetness pervades the palate as well. Very very nice.
