Commercial Description:
“a stout of great contention” We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

By comprehending the labyrinthine movement of time, one would not think it strange to trace the errant path of an ordinary object such as a cream dessert only to discover that it has been the cause of cultural disputes since the middle ages. The British founders of burnt cream and from Spain, crema catalana, both stand by their creative originality and we respect that, but it was the French Crème Brûlée, amid the strife of contention, that survived to represent our deliciously creamy brew. 10.0% abv • 25º plato • 195º L • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt / dark caramel malt / vanilla bean / lactose sugar / kettle hops: columbus / aroma hops: horizon

I love sweet stuff, so where we go! Clear though very dark brown with a small baige head. Sweet milky chocolate aroma, loeads of it. Has notes of vanilla, caramel fudge and alchohol aswell. The sweetness carries into the flavor aswell, this is a full dessert! The alchohol is nicely balancing out the sweetness. At first i found it a little strong, but its all good. The finish is a little bitter, so hops are in there. I like it alot!

Bottle courtesy of thirdeye11. Deep ruby pour. Aroma is insane! Huge coffee roast with sweet whipped cream and loads of vanilla beans. To top it off it’s all been slowly roasted over a campfire. Freaken insane. Butterscotch on the nose but I’m certain it’s purposely added, and rightfully so. Flavor is exactly like it smells. So sweet, with butterscotch, chocolate, vanilla. Amazing, I could drink this all freaken day.

22 oz. bottle. Pours jet black body with small creme / beige colored head. Smell of burnt sugar, molasses, cream brulee basically. Taste is of sweet sugar / cream, vanilla, with roasted malts on the finish. Very nice and definitely a unique brew. Overall very sweet though - maybe one of the sweetest beers i’ve had in a long time. Slightly overpowering, though some darker, roastier things come through on the finish. Fun to drink one time, recommended, but not a session beer. Probably would not come back to it.

From bottle at Haket. Dark brown with no head. Coconut dominate the aroma, with traces of burnt sugar. Sweet, sticky coconut, creme brulee, and toffee in flavour, with a littlle coffee in the end. Not much alcohol detected in this sweet, oily beer.

Bottle:   Deep rich brown, thin light brown head, sudsy, spotty lacing.   Oh my lord, that nose is amazing.   Vanilla, toffee, mocha, coffee, caramel, cocoa, the list goes on.   Smells like a fancy coffee.   Soo good.   Wow, on the tongue its a sweet vanilla and toffee experience.   Lingering cocoa and coffee, with heaps of vanilla.   Not even sure you can call this beer.   Seems more of an alcholic coffee.   Me like!

Sweet zombie jesus! This is one of the most impressive stouts ive evr had! Not only does it have all the deliciousness of an imperial stout is packed full with the flavours of a creme brulee. Dark black pour with a fluffy off white head. The scent sent me reeling; all the cocoa and roast maltiness you would expect, lots of good vanilla, and a shit-ton of carmelized sugar. The taste is so very similar, with the added notes of some dried fruits. Truly a fantastic beer.

Sampled at the ORF tasting. All I have to say is.... HOLY SH*T this stuff is good. The aroma is creme brulee, the taste is creme brulee, buttery smooth and sweet. Although this beer smells and tastes absolutely freakin incredible, I definitely would have trouble finishing an entire bottle. Its just too darn sweet. But for what it is, you can’t taste the alcohol at all and it literally tastes like you’re drinking dessert

Draft. Rattle N Hum, NYC. Deep brown body with a diminishing tan head. Yup, this is creme brulee, but with an underlying bitterness. Sweet aroma of vanilla, burnt sugar, cocoa. Hint of cream, caramel, toasted grain. The flavor is heavily sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes moderately to heavily sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, moderate carbonation. An interesting beer. Most beers this sweet border on undrinkable, but this is an enjoyable dessert beer. Still, this is a beer to share, maybe with several people.

This beer has an intense aroma of vaniglia and caramel, that is found also in the taste.
