illinismitty (1397), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 14, 2008 Updated: Jul 22, 2008 Generously shared by some locals at Track 84 in Warwick, RI. Pours deep brown with a wisp of a head. The aroma is strong and wonderful, sort of like like Bailey’s Irish Creme. I dig it. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. The flavor profile is fairly simple here. There is lots of hazlenut andvanilla, with a backdrop of dark chocolate. Tons of residual sweetness, and not much dark roast or bitterness ( a little more of which could have taken this beer to the next level). Alcohol is well hidden. Overall this enjoyable. It’s one dimensional and definitely a rich dessert beer- but that was probably the intent. I don’t recommend attacking a 22 ounce bottle by yourself. An 8 to 10 ounce serving is about all I can handle.
BuckeyeSammy (354), New York City, New York, USA Aug 20, 2008 3.6? Come on people. I cant image why anyone would give the aroma and palate of this brew anything but nearly perfect. Nose is sweet vanilla and coffee, sweet toffee malt, some fruit. Flavor is much of the same. Carbonation compliments this beer. Layers of flavor combinations on your palate throughout. Will probably age beautifully. dkachur (723), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 20, 2008 Phew! Vanilla? Hell no. The overwhelming butterscotch in this aroma can be detected a good 20 feet away. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Thankfully the taste is more subdued, allowing some roasted malt to come through. Beyond that, more butterscotch and a little vanilla. Alcohol not noticeable. 22 ounces of this? That’s just wrong. mingo1968 (18), phila, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 20, 2008 At first wiff i would not think that it was beer in a glass, but a vanilla coffee drink. The color was almost black with a minimal head. It was very sweet to the taste, like desert in a glass. skip the chocolate cake and have a glass of this. Flyer (104), Hartland, Wisconsin, USA Aug 20, 2008 In the context of beer, the rating for this would be questionable. In the context of dessert, this is amazingly good. Crack open the bottle and butterscotch aromas are already leaping at your nose. It pours deep brown black with almost no head. Delicious flavors of butterscotch, caramel, and burnt vanilla. Lingering boozy warmth. Sitting at the bar, I’d say maybe, maybe not. After a meal, why not have a dessert with 10% alcohol? jcwattsrugger (3807), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 20, 2008 @Richmond/Williamsburg Gathering-22 oz bottle-pours a thin light tan head and bark brown color. Aroma is maple syrup. Taste is maple syrup, tannin-like, dry. Thanks LooseCannon for sharing.
