pors a copper amber with a thinish whitish head that dissipates pretty quickly. aroma is heavy on the straw, some corn, spice, light woody/earthy notes, and some sweet overtones and pale malts. taste is not what i expected from the aroma; sweet and lightly earthy, faint essence of hops, a bit of caramel, and some nut and honey. mouthfeel is a bit oily. finish leaves a warming esophagus (11% ABV!). really not bad, but i still feel there is something lacking. for one thing, being a southern tier FANATIC (i was pretty much raised on it), i noticed it doesn’t have that southern tier ’thing’. a good brew, but not one that really blew me away. has a lot of flavor, but the flavor just isn’t all that interesting. i’ll have to try it again.

Pours out just as the picture to the left indicates. aroma was spicy with notes of oak, vanilla and sweetness. Flavor was sweet and nutty with a slight warming effect as it went down.

bottle at a beer show. Average head creamy. I could not believe this had an 11% ABV it is non existent heavy caramel molasses base. great desert beer.

Thanks to Blake for opening this! Poured clear medium orange with a dusting of white head. The aroma picked up oaky, vanilla, and floral notes over pale malts and lesser dark fruits.. a touch of honey joined in on the back.. quite well-balanced. The flavor found warm honey, dark fruits, and pale malts again at the core.. peppery yeast, fresh, slightly sour oak, and vanilla surrounded.. warm, tangy finish. Medium-plus bodied with lower carbonation on the palate.. spicy and warm.. solid all around, but not great.

[2002-20090219] 650mL bottle. Pineapple spicy yeast aroma with mild oak vanilla notes. Clear, amber orange body with a quick bubbly white head. Heavy malty fruit yeast flavour with very mild oak vanilla. Medium-full body is fairly bitter. Interesting.

Bomber shared by Enniskillen. Nose is vanilla, bubblegum, light fruitiness, and sweetness. Clear orange with a small off white head. Flavor is oaky vanilla with pretty heavy alcohol, and coconut macaroon cookies. Hot but enjoyable.

Amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is alcohol, vanilla, coconut, barleywine character maltiness in the background. Taste is a light oakiness, alcohol, sugar cookies. Lacks depth for a beer this big but still is drinkable.

Bottle. Brown color, no head. I am not sure how old this beer actually is, but I could definitely detect some old hops that should be present, but werent. Sugars and alcohol are heavy in the smell of it, and stale hops. Taste was similar, with a very powerful taste, mostly alcohol. A little bit of bourbon is in it too. This beer was just ok, not really good and probably not near as good as it once was when it was fresh.
