Strong almond, sugar and oak. Pour was a thick dark gold with no bubbles or head. Taste was very complex. Strong almond, apricot and vanilla with a sweet honeyness in the aftertaste; along with some oversugared caramel. Hides alcohol well, but just a sweet fruity woody bottle of medicore. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 26, 2009 22 oz. bottle in a box. All the rich flavors, malt ale impressions, and French oak qualities listed on the label are certainly present, but together are somewhat disagreeable. The alcohol takes over most of the taste at the end and leaves my teeth kind of filmy. Might go good with a cigar. More of a sipping brew. bu11zeye (5603), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma of caramel, plastic, toffee, and honey. Flavor of honey, butterscotch, almonds, toffee, coconut, and alcohol with a dry finish. imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 25, 2009 22oz. in a snazy box. Pour is a nice golden with a fizzy white head. Aromas of spice, banana, and some oak. Flavor consists of banana, sweet malt, and carbonation bubbles. Burps were all night after drinking this one. The alcohol is well hidden also. This one was very different from ST other beers. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Sweet malt and alcohol. Golden color with moderate carbonation. Just a little oak, but it is too hot from the alcohol. ilovedarkbeer (1366), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Pours a glowing copper color with a small soapy white head. Some lacing. Nose and taste are about the same. Sweet caramel, toasted coconut like crazy! bourbon, vanilla and some praline. Mouthfeel is pretty substantial and the finish is medium to long and bitter. Hits on many of my favorite flavors. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Light orange colored beer with a thin, fully diminishing white foam. Aroma shows a harsh, unrefined character. Very sweet, poorly structured and balanced, this Belgian style ale doesn’t live up to my expectations. sunevdj (1784), Copenhagen OE, Denmark
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 23, 2009 Pours a clear light amber with a white head. Very sweet with aromas of caramel and some spices. Also rather dry. Loads of residual sugars. Strong aoky aromas, but in a kind of artificial way. Maybe because it was overly oaked(?). Soft carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel. Dry and sweet finish.
