Pours a lighter copper amber than the 2. both with minimal rings of offwhite head. Nose is lighter, with apple butter, biscuit, and carmel, and just a twinge of alcohol. Flavor is toffee, butterscotch, and sweet honey. Great job of hiding the abv. Beautiful marketing presentation too. Too bad it’s so expensive. frylock (1024), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 27, 2009 Golden brown body beneath a white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring of foam. Rich malts, pear, raisins, and honey in the aroma accompanied by some underlying oak. Sweet flavors of caramel and vanilla along with some candied fruits and a subtle peppery spice. Dry oak tannins come through in the finish. I like this one a bit more than most other raters I guess. caresville (106), Vernon, New Jersey, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to medium sized off-white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent strongly carbonated light brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was woody. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained interesting notes of malt hops and caramel.
