Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-amber color with a large fluffy, soapy orange-cream head. The aroma was faint sweet caramel and almond. The flavor was sweet bourbon, vanilla, oak, nut, light fruits, almond nougat, apple and cinnamon. The finish was medium length. The mouthfeel was fairly thick. Excellent. gnoff (3573), Göteborg, Sweden

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 5, 2009 From Notes: Pour is clean amber with a thin white head. Aroma is a sugary-sweet fruity woodish malt. This is less impressive than I had hoped. There arnt as much wood characters, no aged-feeling really either. This seems like it just residual sugars loaded into an amber ale. The flavor has only a little bit of hearty malt, and mild bitterness to follow it. Not a complete miss by ST, but this one definitely got tagged out at first. I might have to go grab something, anything, from the black water series. MIBRomeo (1965), Wisconsin, USA

Odd aroma.. some light light fruit almost a nutty touch and a hint of honey.. I could call it honeysuckle, but i’m not sure. Aroma is fairly light for a beer of this size. Palate is full well coated and lightly creamy. The first dominate flavor is very sweet honey and a good amount of alcohol. Almost syrupy in it’s sweetness, to sweet in my opinion w/ a very very light dry hop finish.. there’s a hint of nut in the aftertaste but not much. I find this to sweet and to alcoholic. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Bottle shared with pfriesen; served at cellar temperature in large tulip glasses. This is an amber coloured ale with no head. The aroma is full of smokey wood, possibly oak, some citrus: lemon, orange. The mouthfeel is medium in body and syrupy, a bit sticky. There is more wood and some honey in the flavour, all very sweet. This is a fairly simple and one-dimensional ale. Thank you Peter for sharing. finol (516), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden
