Pretty amber from bomber. Aroma of Barley Wine. Pine nuts and Congac a slight vanilla, there is just a bit os grass in there. Suprisingly light in the mouth with subdues malt surrounded by creamy cognac ansd bitters. ST was obviously going for balance here. This beer will compete favorably with the great beers of Belgium - a perfect storm of hops malt and brewing genius. In these early years it is not too much to describe this as a fine wine of beer. Perhap, if you think that what ever came before is the hallmark, this is American Cuvee. Wine in California, Beer in New York.. The finish is wine, mushrooms and leek. Goes on and on.

Bottle. NIce amber with off white head. Sweet aroma of melasses, honey, raisins, dates, caramel, coconut, apricot, wood, vanilla and a little alcohol. Flavour is also sweet with caramel, raisins, vanilla, wood and alcohol. It has a sudden, fruity tartness in the cheeks which tranforms into i more apparent and direct bitterness. Complex beer with a good balance in the aging. I really enjoyed this beer.

Pours coppery orange from bottle, large white head that quickly disappears. Aroma is interesting - sweetness and fruit with a hint of peat, like a good scotch whiskey. Aroma and flavor are remniscent of a Unibroue beer; fairly sweet, good malt and caramel characters with fruit and spice and a hint of nuts on the finish. Highly recommended.

(Out of a 22oz bottle into a tulip glass...) Honey and copper color. Head disappears quickly. Hazy but glowing inside like a lava lamp. Some scant carbonation. There is woody oak in the nose. Hint of Belgian spike. Some nicely toasted caramel malts. Woody and roasted. Magnificent blend of the oak, accented with vanilla. Belgian spices, raisins, alcohol, caramel, molasses. Just sweet enough, with a dry base. Coconut and nuttyness. Pleasant, mild aftertaste. The feel is creamy and fizzy. Leaves a nice film. Superior. It disappeared before I knew it was gone.

Pours a clear amber color with no head at all. The nose is amazing. It has a nice nutty and malty aroma with some hints of light and dark fruit. As you sip on it you can taste the raisin and almond with caramel malt. It has one of the best flavors ever for an American strong ale with the booze well hidden considering it is 11%. Overall it has an amazing flavor filled with nuts and malt i just never want the beer to end.

Enjoyed @ the perfect pint @ Southern Tier with Phin & Paul. Pours a deep golden color with copper hues. Aroma is oaky, honey sweetness, light booziness. Taste is rich, extremely smooth, light whisky-ish booziness but not overpowering. Extremely drinkable & delicious. notes of almond nuttiness, almost like vanilla creme.

Pours a clear orange with a thin white head and no lacing left on the glass. The aroma comes forth with wheats and honey and then a strong burst of sugary sweetness. Under that is some citrus hops, traces of the 11% and just a touch of the breadiness from the toasted coconut and biscotti flavors. The taste imparts more sweetness fading into a woody finish.

Pours a clear, syrupy sunburst gold with a minimal white head. The nose is ripe with tropical fruits (pineapple, coconut), nuts (almond and praline) and honey. The alcoholic strength isn’t evident in the aroma. The flavor is severely sweet, but delicious. The flavor is bounty-like, with nuances of chewy caramel, almond, vanilla oak and toasted candied pralines. The Belgian yeast is spicy, but not really aromatic. I’m not getting the dryness in the finish that they’re advertising. Instead the finish is a little syrupy, leaving a super sweet coat over every crevasse of the mouth.
