Caramel, honey, vanilla aromas with a pretty similar taste. Something a little wierd in there that I’m not really too keen on.... perhaps it’s the barrel-aged aspect. Well-hidden alcohol.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottled. Aroma has the oak, some caramel, heavy on the hops. Clear, amber coloured beer with a lasting, off-white head. The taste is bitter, has sweetness, hops there and some toffee. And oak offfcourse. Full bodied, sticky. Oakay beer. ;) killjoy966 (227), Washington, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 20, 2009 22 oz. bottle from Ballard Market. Bought as a pair with Southern Tier Cuvee Series 1 and I must say it doesn’t hold a candle to the first one. Though I can’t nail the genus exactly, I get some very strong woodsy (pine needle?) flavor. Not at all like the smooth, mellow, barley wine flavor I got from Series 1. Not bad, just... different. 5000 (2625), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Bottle:   Amber in color, a little fiery, moderate to thin off-white head, sparce lacing.   Sweet oaky nose.   Almost has some cedar aspects.   Warming strong maltiness on first sip.   Not as sweet as what the nose plays off.   Just seems like a semi-sweet heavily oak ladden Strong Ale.   Underlying beer is uncertain.   Comes across as an American Strong, but seems a little non-descripte because all I get is this sweet oak.   Very minor Vanilla and Toffee.   Body and mothfeel are moderate to full.   Feels a little thick.   Not as complex as I would have thought.   Pretty simple, and unfortunately a bit uninteresting.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2009 Oak aged. Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-orange color with a small beige head. The aroma was molasses, fruits, ginger, caramel and rum. The flavor was caramel, molasses, ripe fruits, wood, rum, cocoa and ginger. There is a long finish that turns bitter. Thick but a bit boozy. Nice. MesandSim (5955), London, Greater London, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at Borefts 10am day after hotel tasting. Amber colour with a very slight haze and a good off white head. Sweet caramel with some nice roast and smoky notes. Plenty of oak, some vanilla and burnt sugar. Late hops calm it down a little. Plenty of heat. A little too sweet overall. Not the best from ST but still a good beer. faroeviking (6125), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands

Pleasant roasty malty and caramel vinious aroma. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is quite sweet , but also quite pleasant, with a deep maltiness, caramel, dark fruits, some chocolate and bitter hops. bonk0076 (94), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
