thenick (742), North Bellmore, New York, USA Nov 6, 2009 Tap. Pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is floral hops with a bit of malt. Flavor is malt up front with a floral hop aftertaste. It’s a bit subtle, but decently solid. andersand (271), Malmö, Sweden Nov 6, 2009 Clear amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is simple malt with light flowery hops. Flavour is very concentrated, slightly artifical simple caramell malt with a light floral and piney hop character. Ends way too sweet for the style. Serve as recommended too cold so you dont get too much of all that malt sweetness.. Ober (1161), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Nov 4, 2009 A clear dark gold colored beer, with a thick foamy white head. The aroma of hop bitters with fruits like citrus and orange. The taste is sweet from fruits, like peaches. There is hop bitter with some spices in the back. The aftertaste is bitter with some fruity sweets. BierBauch (638), Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2009 22oz Bottle from Lukes. pours a hazy golden orange with a thick dense seafoam like head. Aromas of peaches, citrus, tropical fruit and doughy yeast notes. Medium body with a slight chewiness and lightly coats the mouth. Flavor dominated by hops but some of the malts do show through subtly. Alcohol well hidden for 10.5%. Overal a nice offering yet somewhat predictable for the style. DeadGirl (192), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Oct 18, 2009 On draught at RnH (Midtown, NYC): Pours a nice amber into a 14 oz glass, notes give off some cherry, caramel, honey, pine, and hops flavors- mostly hops, pine and sugar. Feels tingly/spicy on the palatte after the sweetness wears off. It’s a great DIPA. It is what it is. Head evaporates quickly, but leaves a nice ring of lace.
The smell is an incredible citrusy hop aroma. Sweet and refreshing. Complimentary pale malt aroma. Perfectly citrusy.
The taste is a more bitter hop than the smell, with some light pine characteristics. Less sweet than the aroma, but nice nonetheless. It’s nicely bitter but with a sweeter accent. Very good; hoppy as hell but not "extreme."
Chewy and rough, but in a good way. Leaves a bouncy, bitter film. Substantial. Overall it’s a superbly bitter -- but balanced -- beer. And the bitterness never forgets its sweet partner. gyllenbock (238), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 15, 2009 Sample at Bishops Arms, Folkungagatan in June 09.
Nice, pretty dark orange color. Aroma of apricot, hops, citrus, caramel. Nice balance between hops and malt in the flavor. A lot of fruits also, body was medium to full.
mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Oct 4, 2009 Pours a brilliant orange with an off-white head with decent retention. Incredible aroma - sweet and hoppy and delicious! Rather plain malting but spectacular hops, slightly medicinal but tasty! Lingering herbal hop aftertaste. Thin but coating body, good carb. Holy hop-grenade, batman.
