Big floral hop notes up front. Big doses of rich caramel malt that is sweet and smooth. Wide range of fruit notes, mainly orange and grapefruit citrus. High alcohol was well hidden. Mellow hop pine and light resin. Great drink - not over the top hop, a bit on the simple side of construction but really well done. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA

The hops are very flavorful and bitter along the citrus vein but the malts are there too, providing a thickness for the bitterness and sweetness. This beer was very full bodied and thick, syrupy. It looks beautiful too. elihapa (1067), Honolulu, California, USA

Pours gold with a creamy head, certainly appearing to be a blend of the two mentioned beers. Aroma is very citrusy, with crisp lemon, kumquat, and grapefruit. Flavor has distinct hop profile, but with a mellowness that is uncharacteristic of DIPAs. There is a distinct lemon peel and flower profile, balanced beautifully with pale malt. Finish hides alcohol as good as any beer I’ve tried, also managing to mask much of the bitterness one would expect from a hoppy DIPA. A delicious blend, if anything I found the mid-body and finish to be missing just a little umph in flavor (or was it just the lack of bitterness?) Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA

It’s sweet yet hoppy with fruity notes, a touch of bitterness, floral notes and a hint of pine and grapefruit. Medium to full bodied and remarkably smooth. gogaterz (20), Pennsylvania, USA

I’ve taken many trips to Europe and several to Belgium and I rank this beer up with the Trappist Ales as a favorite. KornDogg (217), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Feb 28, 2009 aroma is very light hops. appearance is similarly subtle: straw yellow. flavor is no where near unearthly’s levels, very mellow. hop attack comes late, and displays itself in only the most tasteful, organic and earthy presence possible. nothing like the wild overwhelming bitterness offered by the two ’parents’ of this special brew. in every way possible, this is mellow and easy going, nothing at all like what i imagined. still a hop bomb by most standards, this is classy amongst southern tier’s often overstated offerings.
