| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass
Appearance: It has a bright golden color with a slight chill haze and a small creamy white head. It fades to just a very thin covering that still makes some nice lace on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has a hop filled nose with piney/citrus notes and a hint of caramel and toasted grain.
Taste/Mouth feel: Its flavor has a good malty backbone with light toasted notes as well as a mild almost fruity sweetness. This is balanced by good bitterness from the hops which add some piney/citrus notes. In the finish I picked up more of a herbal tea like hop flavor that slowly fades off the tongue. It has a solid medium body with good carbonation and a slightly slick texture.
Notes: I wasn’t expecting a ESB for a harvest beer but it was very enjoyable.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2008 hazy yellow color, slight white head, some lacing. aroma of musty grass. flavor of bitter malt and grass. full bodied, long lasting bitter finish. an interesting, if not complex, brew with a mild bitterness that lingers. not sure what this means, but my notes say "goes good with sport peppers". mrant (330), New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 10, 2008 Smells wonderfully of sour floral hops. Tastes hoppier than your average harvest ale with a nice well-balanced malt back to it. One of the best of this style I’ve had skibumphishead (180), USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 9, 2008 12oz bottle from the Big E grocery store. This fall beer is light, hoppy, and spicy. It tastes like a light bodied IPA with a little bit of British hops in the finish. I can’t believe that this is an ESB. The hops are harsh and acidic like a west coast double, but the body of the beer is very light. This was very different and enjoyable. RCL (1496), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2008 Sweet grain and fresh hop aroma. The flavor is fairly dry with some malt sweetness on the finish. This beer’s flavor somehow reminds me of crunchy dry autumn leaves. RAYBOY01 (1869), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 6, 2008 Somewhat pallid pour...light golden and thin-looking, but the nose has a fair touch of grassy hop bite to it. The flavors are big bright grassy hoppiness and citrusy finish layered on top of the biscuit and bready caramel maltiness underneath. Very nice take on the premium bitter style and preminently repeatable!
