Commercial Description:
Harvest Ale is our celebration of the changing weather and the sowing of hops and barley that will be used in our upcoming brews. We usher in the fall with a classic English style Extra Special Bitter of the highest order. Deep ruby in color with an even deeper hop flavor… in fact, we throw fresh English hops into every brewing vessel, then dry hop after fermentation to impart a zesty kick. This beer has real hop character that mingles with fresh malted barley for an experience that will make you wish it were fall year ‘round.

Well, it looks basic enough, glassy yellow hue with a thin head. Aroma is a great balance of nutty malt, (I love nutty malt aroma) and a light hop citrus. Did I mention that I love nutty malt characters? ’Cuz I do, and this mingles with well with a mild hop build. Not the most memorable ESB, but a damn fine example. And kudos to Southern Tier for brewing a harvest ale that has nothing to to do with spices or pumpkins.

Bottle. Pours a slightly orange-ish gold with a medium sized, sudsy head (that dies back fairly quickly.) Aromas are fairly crisp... pine and citrus, but they are kind of subdued. While those hops dominate the nose and would make you think you were headed down the IPA path, flavor is more consistent with an English ESB... kind of a sweet honey and bread malt body with a bitter hops to hold it in check... it stays nice and crisp throughout and is pleasant enough.

Draught @ Cole’s. Clear golden, leaves some lacing. Lovely pine hopped-up aroma. Medium carbonation. Floral, pine and citrus all mortared and pestled together into a very nice brew!!

Poured a dark golden color with a medium sized, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, pine, citrus, toast, and toffee. Taste of citrus fruits, toffee, yeast, toasted malts, a bit of caramel, and a moderately bitter finish.

Thanks to egajdzis. 12 oz bottle. Pours a translucent golden copper with a medium off white head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of a handful of fresh hops, floral, orange, nice citrus mix, bready and caramel. Flavor of citrus zest, floral, pine, lightly bitter, bready malt, grains and some caramel.

12oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, deep golden color with a 2 finger off white head. Nose of citrus hops and pine. Finish was hoppy with some malt and good bitterness.

Pours a clear, light honey gold with a minimal white head. Incredible aroma of sweet honey and an abundance of citrus and pine scented hops. Delicious taste, rivals some top IPA’s in my opinion. Very smooth sweet honey and orange flavors at the start that fade amazingly into a great bitter but controlled hop finish. If anything it’s a little too herbal tasting as it lingers, but still exceptional.
