Commercial Description:
Harvest Ale is our celebration of the changing weather and the sowing of hops and barley that will be used in our upcoming brews. We usher in the fall with a classic English style Extra Special Bitter of the highest order. Deep ruby in color with an even deeper hop flavor… in fact, we throw fresh English hops into every brewing vessel, then dry hop after fermentation to impart a zesty kick. This beer has real hop character that mingles with fresh malted barley for an experience that will make you wish it were fall year ‘round.

Bruegala 2009 sampling - The typical representation for the old saying "Don’t judge a book by its cover". Appearance was a bright clear bright yellow, small thin filmy white head with almost no carbonation. If based on looks alone, this beer fails. Aroma is quite surprising with a very light grainy malt note, average amount of pin, grapefruit and resiney hops notes and a heavy peach aroma. Flavor has a very strong peach sweetness with a modest pine and grapefruit hops notes with a good hops bitter bite. Body is moderate with a light oily note and an almost flat feeling but it carries the flavor fantastically. Overall a bit on the thin side (probably due to under carbonation) but it really does stand out as a great brew with a lot complexity in the aroma and flavors.

This beer is GOOD. Nice hoppy floral aroma and slick on the mouth. A slim malt backbone IMO, but the hops are what makes this beer. Seems like there’s a few different types here - definitely some cascade in there. Awesome American-style ESB (if that makes sense).

12 ounce bottle. Nice hop aroma. Very nice hops taste in the foretaste. The aftertaste is slightly bitter with a smooth finish. Very solid beer would buy again

Yummmmmm-ooooooo!!! Wow, great beer! Poured with a big, foamy, frothy, thick, white head and good lace. Color is 18 k yellow gold. Aroma is very fresh, citrus hop. Flavor is super fresh hop but not so citrus, more earthy & chewy hop, some malt, and bread. Body is good, a little soft. Carbonation is good. Finish is excellent. Satisfying yet leaves me with a yearning for more, and more, and....

YUM. Thought this was going to be an Oktoberfest, but its actually a tight bitter. Crisply hopped and delicious... wish we got this in NC.

Clear, bright yellow/gold appearance with a small, off white head and good lacing. Spicy hop aroma with some citrus underneath. Hops turn more floral and herbal in the taste, accompanied by some cracker-like malts. Aftertaste is pleasantly bitter. First impression, erroneously, was that the palate was a bit too thin; but there is a good firm body ir you give it a chance. "Harvest" = "Octoberfest"? Sounds reasonable, but not here. Think more bitter hoppiness and less sweet maltiness. A new favorite for this style.

POurs yellow with a thin white head. Nose is crisp toasty grain, subtle and perfectly balanced citrus hops, fruity english yeast. Flavor is a refreshing citrus bitterness perfectly balanced by sweet toasty caramel malt. This would be my session beer if I could get it regularly. ESB is a very under appreciated style, but when executed well, like this beer, it’s a gem!

Amber pour with offwhite head. Aroma is of fruity hops and a bit of pine. Malts are earthy. Flavor is mild hop bitterness and some nice robust malt to ballance. Very drinkable. Pretty tastey
