Commercial Description:
Heavy Weizen explores the inner depths of creativity and craftsmanship, taking a style of ale that is delicate and quaffable and shaping it into something exuberant and sturdy. The foundation of Heavy Weizen begins with prodigious quantities of North American malted barley and wheat. Next, the finest European hops are added to complement this ale's unique disposition by giving spicy aromas. Its spirit is forged during fermentation where our Bavarian weizen yeast consumes sugars and creates divine flavors reminiscent of bananas and cloves. Then, by aging this ale, we allow the divergent characteristics to blend together, becoming one. To capture Heavy Weizen's spirit, this wheat ale remains unfiltered to leave some of the yeast in the bottle. Serving this ale with a wedge of lemon is recommended, but optional. 18 plato, 38 IBUs, 2-row pale malt, malted white wheat, hallertau magnum, saaz.

Medium golden yellow, decent, lasting head, good lacing. Light haze. Aroma is clove, bubblegum, sticky wheat, some banana. Flavors are intricate - spicy clove melding very well with bitter spicy hops - perhaps the best mix of American inspired hop bitterness and German hefe yeast phenolics that I’ve encountered. Moves into a banana and bubblegum middle, finishes with wheat accented malts and hop bitterness. I was expecting something more akin to a wiezenbock based on the description and the ABV, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a souped up hefe that was still distinctly a hefe. Very, very well done brew.

Thanks to dmac for this. Wow, totally surprised by how much I liked this one. Aromas were similiar to a Belgian double. Lots of spice, corriander, some banana. Flavors of Banana and cloves were present throughout. Finish was very wet and clean. Delicious. Thanks Dave.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a smallish off-white head. Yeasty aroma that features plenty of vanilla extract, bananas, some clove and caramel. Fuller body than most hefeweizens. Begins kinda syrupy with some very sweet vanilla and banana and finishes with a slightly wheaty crispness. Some alcohol burn is present throughout. Nothing too memorable.

I normally do not like this style of beer, but wow, this one was great! Pours a murky yellow with a nice off-white head. Aroma was sweet malt with flowers and spice. Amazing taste for the style, probably the sweetest hefeweizen I have ever tried. Nice thick mouthfeel, with a sweet wheaty finish. Would drink again.

Golden straw body with a notable viscous pour and modest carbonation. Very estery nose with banana and floral esters, plus a very nutty wheat backbone. Relatively full body with flavors of honey syrup and firm herbal bitterness.

Hazy gold beer with a foamy white head when poured out of the bomber. Sweet syrup nose with puffed wheat and hair spray. Caramel sweet, strong citurs hops, puffed wheat, banana and a clove spiciness. Thick mouthfeel. Really big Hefeweizen.

Bottle: pours a cloudy amber with a thin, white head, sweet aroma of bananas and brown sugar, a little citrus, taste is a bit bitter which was pretty surprising to me, also a little bit of spice and grapefruit flavor. Not a bad hefe but a bit of a dissapointment to me considering how much I’ve like other ST offerings.

bottle thanks to kramerxxxxx....... pours a hazy/cloudy orange brown with a thin soapy head at the top..... aroma of assertive bananas, citrus, and sweet malt.... strong essence of banana and spices make up the flavor profile with a carbonated mouthfeel. flavor remains focused on the sweet malt for the entire duration.... not a bad hefe when one is in the mood for one.
