Commercial Description:
Heavy Weizen explores the inner depths of creativity and craftsmanship, taking a style of ale that is delicate and quaffable and shaping it into something exuberant and sturdy. The foundation of Heavy Weizen begins with prodigious quantities of North American malted barley and wheat. Next, the finest European hops are added to complement this ale's unique disposition by giving spicy aromas. Its spirit is forged during fermentation where our Bavarian weizen yeast consumes sugars and creates divine flavors reminiscent of bananas and cloves. Then, by aging this ale, we allow the divergent characteristics to blend together, becoming one. To capture Heavy Weizen's spirit, this wheat ale remains unfiltered to leave some of the yeast in the bottle. Serving this ale with a wedge of lemon is recommended, but optional. 18 plato, 38 IBUs, 2-row pale malt, malted white wheat, hallertau magnum, saaz.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy pale dull gold with a thin white head that disappeared into a thin ring before my first sip. Pleasant aroma of bananas and lemon. The flavor is malt with some yeast, bananas, and just a bit of brown sugar. The malt is stronger than one would expect in a hefe, and I have to say I like it here. Medium bodied with a somewhat slick mouthfeel. No trace of the 8% abv.

22 oz bottle, via trade. Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a wispy film quickly. Heavy bready wheat dominates the nose with lighter accents of honey, floral hops, fruity esters, and some candy sweetness. The flavor is exactly what I expected, the malt has taken over much of the fruity clove and banana character that I want from a Hefe. There’s really very little of it, and it’s mostly late in the finish when the alcohol subsides. An OK beer, but this is not what I’d consider a German Hefeweizen. The mouthfeel is thick and slightly syrupy with moderate fizzy carbonation that keeps if from being too sticky. Noticable alcohol warmth on the finish. Overall, this was decent, but not what I’m looking for from a Hefe. Perhaps this should be under either the ASA or Wheat Ale category.

Froma a bottle. Pours a golden color with small head that disappears quickly. Aromas of banana, grassy hops and bublble gum like notes. Flavor is more of the same banana, yeast, spice, wheat and some alcohol peaking through in the finish. Not one of my favorites from ST.

Loved this beer. Great pour of golden cloudiness, small head, but still a good looking beer. The aroma has hints of banana, which is present in its flavor and more so in the after taste. Overall awesome beer, i will be drinking much more of this one.

Aroma of sweet candy malt, wheat. Golden color, minimal head. Not much lacing. Average carbonation, bubble-gum malty flavor. Lightly spiced yeast and wheat, banana.

750ml generously bonused by nolankowal. Big hefe aroma. Loaded with bold banana and bubblegum esters. Spicy clove, bright grassy hops and tons of malted wheat. Smells like dessert in a bottle. Pours bright, hazy light orange with a quickly disappearing white head. Plenty of spicy yeast on the tongue. White pepper and clove. Cedar and caramel. Fresh cut grassy hops. Light banana puree. Cinnamon bread and alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Creamy, lush with moderate fizzy carbonation. Nice hefe for sure.

22 oz bomber from EZ Liquors. Pours a very hazy brwonish orange, big suprise there, with a large frothy slightly off white head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma of ripe banana, cloves, wheat, slight pepper, tropical fuirt and banana bread. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a creamy finish. Flavor of fermented wheat, over ripe banana, brown bread, slight hops. Nice beer, not as nice as my wife though who thought it was okay to touch the reomote in the middle of South Park, she won’t make that mistake twice........boy did I whine and complain.

22 oz. bottle via trade with GMCC2181 - Pours a very slightly hazy straw color with a thin white head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is yeast, light esters, grain malt, and a touch of spice. Flavor is basicly the same. Medium body. A very nice beer. Thanks Gabe.
