Commercial Description:
Heavy Weizen explores the inner depths of creativity and craftsmanship, taking a style of ale that is delicate and quaffable and shaping it into something exuberant and sturdy. The foundation of Heavy Weizen begins with prodigious quantities of North American malted barley and wheat. Next, the finest European hops are added to complement this ale's unique disposition by giving spicy aromas. Its spirit is forged during fermentation where our Bavarian weizen yeast consumes sugars and creates divine flavors reminiscent of bananas and cloves. Then, by aging this ale, we allow the divergent characteristics to blend together, becoming one. To capture Heavy Weizen's spirit, this wheat ale remains unfiltered to leave some of the yeast in the bottle. Serving this ale with a wedge of lemon is recommended, but optional. 18 plato, 38 IBUs, 2-row pale malt, malted white wheat, hallertau magnum, saaz.

Bomber shared by Odeed; nose of banana, caramel, cloves, and general spiciness; hazy gold with a medium off-white head; flavor of banana, nutmeg, cloves, and minor hop bitterness; juicy thick body with touches of banana, hops and very light alcohol for a finish! I loved this beer; looks like I am in the minority!

Bottle from Beertruth on beeradvocate. I love Hefeweizens, mostly because of their high drinkability. I also love high gravity beers. So I tried to brew a strong hefeweizen. I used 50% wheat and 50% barley malt and an american hefe yeast. I am curious how other strong wheat beers are.
Pours cloudy yellow-orange. Very little head (as always, possibly because my refrigerator is cold). Tons of banana and some clove. Spicy flavor. Drinkability is no where near as good as a nice regular Hefe. Heavy body. I think it has lots of DMS, or something not very palatable. Leans sweet, but not in a good way.

In short: An overly sweet simple weizen beer. Failed attempt at an Imperial Hefeweizen
How: Mtl crew pre-Xmas 2007 tasting session.
The look: Opaque dark yellow
In long: Sugary crusty lemon pie with honey poured on top of it. Very sweet to say the least. Hops are cruelly lacking. Wheat character lost in the crowd. Soft carbonation. Too simple and too sweet. Not even refreshing. I understand they wanted to make a very “big” Hefeweizen but the whole thing just doesn’t work. I guess I like my women like I like my weizens, not too heavy.

22 oz. brown bomber bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a golden yellow color, with a minimal white head. Aromas are of barnyard straw, yeasty bread, bubblegum, some spices. Flavors are of bubblegum, some cloves, a little citrus, and plenty of malt & yeast. Some banana flavors at the end. Medium mouthfeel, plenty for a weizen. Finished slightly sweet, with a banana aftertaste. Good weizen overall.

Pours a slightly cloudy orange with a thick, foamy white head. Smells of big orange citrus, wheat, and yeast mostly, but leans more toward the citrus aroma as being most dominant. The flavor was big on the alcohol and citrus characters. The wheat came in mostly towards the back. Not an easy drinking wheat beer whatsoever. Pretty sweet, with weak balance in its flavors. A little disappointed with this. Trying to overdo it a little it seems.
