Commercial Description:
Heavy Weizen explores the inner depths of creativity and craftsmanship, taking a style of ale that is delicate and quaffable and shaping it into something exuberant and sturdy. The foundation of Heavy Weizen begins with prodigious quantities of North American malted barley and wheat. Next, the finest European hops are added to complement this ale's unique disposition by giving spicy aromas. Its spirit is forged during fermentation where our Bavarian weizen yeast consumes sugars and creates divine flavors reminiscent of bananas and cloves. Then, by aging this ale, we allow the divergent characteristics to blend together, becoming one. To capture Heavy Weizen's spirit, this wheat ale remains unfiltered to leave some of the yeast in the bottle. Serving this ale with a wedge of lemon is recommended, but optional. 18 plato, 38 IBUs, 2-row pale malt, malted white wheat, hallertau magnum, saaz.

Bottle pours golden in color with a thick head that laces nicely. Tropical fruit aroma and wheat too. Nice mouth feel and quenches nicely for a 8%. Nice amount of herbal bitterness at the beginning that quickly fades into a sweet but not cloying body. Slight funk and sourness in the end. Nice beer.

many strong flavors. Sweet and spicy. Refreshing to drink with a nice burn. ST is always expensive though

This beer is excellent - aroma and flavor actually reminded me of a belgian tripel. Spice and banana in the aroma and taste. Very crisp finish with notes of spice in the aftertaste.

On tap at RnH (NYC): Aroma is just like that of Weihenstephan’s Hefe, crisp banana, and pours a hazy, light orange. Tastes similar to it’s aroma- banana, liquid bread, clove, coriander, and a little of maple. Chewy. Wonderfully refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellowish orange with a small, soapy head. Complex aroma of wheat, clove, citrus, coriander, maple syrup. Flavor is hoppy up front, followed by a nice hit of wheat, then a spicy (coriander and clove) bite. Nice mouthfeel, lively and somewhat syrupy.

hazy medium golden with enormous white head, that makes pouring a challenge. carbonation is high, probably too much so for the style. nose has some spicy hop aromas and fruity esters. mild bitterness then some spicy hops, the weizen yeast characteristics do not come through well, providing more clove and fruit and very little banana. the alcohol is present, but adds depth rather than distraction. a very flavorful brew, however, it ends up tasting more belgian golden strong ale than weizen. either way, very nice

Creamy wheat and pancake aromas. Rich bubbly head and golden yellow color, frothing over. Flavor is initially sharp and fruity, some orange peel, lemon, wheat, hay, and a light bitter finish. Creamy palate, slightly alcoholic. Low carbonation despite the bubbly head. Good.
