Commercial Description:
Heavy Weizen explores the inner depths of creativity and craftsmanship, taking a style of ale that is delicate and quaffable and shaping it into something exuberant and sturdy. The foundation of Heavy Weizen begins with prodigious quantities of North American malted barley and wheat. Next, the finest European hops are added to complement this ale's unique disposition by giving spicy aromas. Its spirit is forged during fermentation where our Bavarian weizen yeast consumes sugars and creates divine flavors reminiscent of bananas and cloves. Then, by aging this ale, we allow the divergent characteristics to blend together, becoming one. To capture Heavy Weizen's spirit, this wheat ale remains unfiltered to leave some of the yeast in the bottle. Serving this ale with a wedge of lemon is recommended, but optional. 18 plato, 38 IBUs, 2-row pale malt, malted white wheat, hallertau magnum, saaz.

Bottle. Pours cloudy blonde with a thick white head. Aroma of fruit, some citrus, and wheat. Flavor has excellent wheat tones, interesting for a 8% beer. Some clove, a little sweet and a little boozy. Worth a try though.

Bottle@Home. Aroma of citrus with some hints of banana and caramel. Light hazy, pale yellow colour, off-white head, few lace. Very sweet, pretty bitter, citrus, hints of banana, grapefruit and caramel. Sticky mouth feel. Nice experiment, but it does not compete. Like a mix between Weizen and Witbier with wrong hops and a shitload of alcohol.

Sneaking away from Thanksgiving to rate a beer. Hi, my name is Nick and I’m a ratebeerholic...and an alcoholic, while we’re at it. Bomber from Jason’s in Ellicott City, MD. Pours a cloudy golden-straw color with a fairly large long-lasting white head. Aroma is wheat, yeast, banana, citrus, and spice. Flavor is very nice and only mildly sweet with wheat, yeast, citrus and floral hops, banana, clove, and loads of spices on the finish. Medium-full body with a tingly, spicy mouthfeel. Overall a great beer. Interesting.
