Commercial Description:
Heavy Weizen explores the inner depths of creativity and craftsmanship, taking a style of ale that is delicate and quaffable and shaping it into something exuberant and sturdy. The foundation of Heavy Weizen begins with prodigious quantities of North American malted barley and wheat. Next, the finest European hops are added to complement this ale's unique disposition by giving spicy aromas. Its spirit is forged during fermentation where our Bavarian weizen yeast consumes sugars and creates divine flavors reminiscent of bananas and cloves. Then, by aging this ale, we allow the divergent characteristics to blend together, becoming one. To capture Heavy Weizen's spirit, this wheat ale remains unfiltered to leave some of the yeast in the bottle. Serving this ale with a wedge of lemon is recommended, but optional. 18 plato, 38 IBUs, 2-row pale malt, malted white wheat, hallertau magnum, saaz.

Loved this beer. Great pour of golden cloudiness, small head, but still a good looking beer. The aroma has hints of banana, which is present in its flavor and more so in the after taste. Overall awesome beer, i will be drinking much more of this one.

This one wowed me, and is the greatest hefe/wheat ale I have yet quaffed, bar none. The pour is hazy orangy wheat color, with a fluffy 2-finger whitish head. The aroma is huge citrus, spicy, floral. I noted the tropical/citrus fruit Holy Trinity of tangerine, pineapple, and mango in the aroma and flavor, plus a generous cracked black pepper component. The repour provided more yeast and other flotsam goodies, and added more citrus and floral spicy notes to an otherwise already extremely complex and well balanced brew, sort of a hybrid of an IIPA, hefe, and saison. This one is awesome, and so good that I’m going to try to chase a case down.

Bomber shared by Odeed; nose of banana, caramel, cloves, and general spiciness; hazy gold with a medium off-white head; flavor of banana, nutmeg, cloves, and minor hop bitterness; juicy thick body with touches of banana, hops and very light alcohol for a finish! I loved this beer; looks like I am in the minority!

Pours hazy golden with a small fluffy white head. Beautifully strong aroma, with lots of cherry and banana present, not to mention candied lemon peel, clove, yeast, and just a hint of strawberry. Flavor is just as fruity as the aroma with lots of sweetened lemon peel, some banana, and a slight berry tartness. Plenty of yeast and spice as well as some pleasantly warming alcohol. Palate is full, spicy, zesty, warming, refreshing, and effervescent. Best wheat ale I’ve had to date.

Draft. This is what I love about Southern Tier. They take a classic style and turn it absolutely upside down. A great looking beer with a big banana and clove nose. The big hops balance it out nicely making this a real mans lawn mower beer. Fuck the German Hefe’s, this shit is awesome.

Hazy pale yellow pour. Very fruity aroma. Apples and berries with some yeast and malt. Nice fruity taste to go with it. Very dry with berries, grape, citrus, and bananas. Malty aftertaste with a bit of malt. Very delicious!
