Commercial Description:
Pour Hop Sun Summer Wheat Beer into a pint glass, give it a long whiff and you'll realize that this isn't your average wheat beer. Filtered to a golden clarity and dry-hopped to perfection, Hop Sun is a fantastic session ale in which flavors of wheat, barley and hops co-mingle to a refreshing and zesty conclusion. Hints of lemon and sweet malts waft to the fore as a touch of bitterness contributes to Hop Sun's bright finish. Enjoy Hop Sun all summer long as a perfect balance to your outdoor recreation. Summer never tasted so good.

Tap @ Amsterdam Ale House, NYC. Pours a clear gold with a fizzy, off-white head. Aroma is very wheaty, though grassy and hop notes were in there as well. Taste was very subdued, alternating between an earthy/grassy characteristic and a hop/wheat finish. It seemed a bit muddled for my taste; maybe I was just expecting something else.

Incredibly refreshing beer with hints of fruit in the flavor but subtle enough to not overwhelm and let the excellent hop balance shine.

12oz bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours a clear golden color with a small, fizzy off-white head. Aroma is of hops, spice, wheat, and grass. Actually smells rather promising. Doesn’t taste very promising though. Taste is of faint hops, wheat, grass, and lemon zest. Has some slight spiciness to it. Mouthfeel is light and very carbonated. Way too bland for a summer beer. Bah, better beers to be had.

12oz bottle picked up at SL.Clearish orange in color, small head. Aroma of light hops and some wheaty, grassy notes. Banana...Light in texture. Wheat with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Not a bad summer beer, I would buy again.

On tap at Barcade. Pours a clear golden/orange. Aroma is ligh citrus, yeast, and mild hops. Flavor is similar with a tiny bit of noticable malt background. Finishes without much punch. A very basic beer. This is probably the least favorite beer from Southern Tier that I’ve had.

Yeast and wheat aroma. Slightly sweet smell. Hazy golden color with a small white head. Mild bitterness in the beginning with a sweet finish. Palate is weak in the ending.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden amber with a medium white head. Nice wheat aromas with a hint of citrus. Medium bodied, slightly sweet. Finishes almost empty with a little grain flavor, almost a touch of citrus, and a bit of bitterness. Needs a little more citrus at the end (and I’d rather not have to supply the wedge of lemon to do it), and this would be a nice easy drinking lawnmower beer. As is, it’s a little weak.

Decent. Definitely a summer beer. This is good for porch sitting days. Crisp, clean. Some malts with a bit of hops. Nicely balanced. Short finish. A bit of lemon zest gives it a brightness. Looking to toss back some and hang outside on a nice Spring or Summer day? This will fit the bill nicely.
