Commercial Description:
Pour Hop Sun Summer Wheat Beer into a pint glass, give it a long whiff and you'll realize that this isn't your average wheat beer. Filtered to a golden clarity and dry-hopped to perfection, Hop Sun is a fantastic session ale in which flavors of wheat, barley and hops co-mingle to a refreshing and zesty conclusion. Hints of lemon and sweet malts waft to the fore as a touch of bitterness contributes to Hop Sun's bright finish. Enjoy Hop Sun all summer long as a perfect balance to your outdoor recreation. Summer never tasted so good.

Clear golden with a small white head. An aroma of american hops, grapefruit, grass and very weak malty. A flavor of hops, grass and pines.

Southern Tier Hop Sun is a very clear straw colored beer with a thin, bubbly white head that leaves some lacing. It has a fresh, citrusy hop aroma that’s clean and lemony. There’s a note of biscuity malt and perhaps some sour dough. It starts almost medium bodied but it thins out. The finish is light and watery. It’s very smooth overall. There’s not much flavor here. There’s a little bit of citrus from the hops and maybe some mint. This total lawn mowing beer.

A great summer beer. A nice balance between the hoppiness of an IPA and the orange flavor of most wheat beers. Flavor takes a bit of time to grow on you but it is an interesting middle ground between two disparate styles. Certainly worth drinking again.

Amber color with a slightly sweet and hoppy aroma. Nice and light, refreshing and a fine beer for summer.

Bottle. Pours a golden hazy body with a white head. Chewy wheat character with a lighter spicy note, bubble gum and banana notes with a bread y finish. Okay.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Norm’s, 8/3/09

Aroma: Citrusy hops, nice lemon nose, some wheat, barley
Appearance: Pale golden-amber color, thin head, spotty lacing, some bubbles
Flavor: More wheat, less hoppy then the nose, decent taste, but not great
Palate: Light body, mediocre mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Started off with a nice nose, but I wasn’t completely excited by the rest of the beer. It’s alright, I guess, but I liked the taste less then I had hoped, a little disappointed.

I’ve had this on tap and from a 12oz bottle and loved both. This is basically a wheat pale ale that combines the best characteristics of both to create a wonderful brew that I’d drink any time.
