Commercial Description:
We craft this much like a sculptor who uses only a hammer and chisel to shape stone into a masterpiece. Hoppe is spawned of these few essentials: barley, wheat, hops, yeast and water. This limited palette is an exercise in minimalism, with refined elements which are deliberately selected. This simple combination creates a golden shimmering brew infused with delicate aromas. The artful nature of this beer is exposed with the first taste. As the malt and hops created a composition of flavors, and elegant finish leaves an impression that your tastes will not soon forget. Don't be deceived by th innocence of Hoppe. Please enjoy in moderation.

10%. nose is the first impression, and despite the name i am presented with sticky malt. chewy mouthfeel, this is a big beer. very well balanced, hops become evident as the beer wears on. suprising light color considering the potent contents. even though its huge in every way, it comes across with a light and citric finish. i am a fan of this style, but that finish really puts it in a league of its own. not bad at all.

Bomber. Hazy light amber supporting a tall rocky white head. Spicy aroma with hints of citrus and cut grass. More citrus in the flavor along with tart apple and a touch of caramel. Nice balance of malt and hops. Silky texture and a dry snappy finish.

bottle - note: the bottle indicates an abv of 10%. Pours copper and mostly clear with a thin white head. It smells of caramel malt and fruity hops. The flavor is definitely on the hop side and tastes more bitter than the 33 IBUs listed on the bottle. It’s a good bitter. The bready, caramel accented malt is on the light side and could maybe be a little stronger for balance. The alcohol is mainly noticeable in the finish. Overall it’s a good, flavorful brew.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a diminished white head. Aroma is mild spiced and dry wheaty with a light acidic note. Sweet caramel malty with a slowly arrising bitterness. Quite hoppy and nicely bittered to the wheaty base flavour. Mild fruity and quite dry into the far finish.

Bomber purchased at Wegman’s in Johnson City, NY. Pours hazy gold, thin white head. Aroma is hoppy (kiwi, citrus) with faint caramel/vanilla. Flavor is citrus hoppy with some honey dough. Not quite graham cracker sweet, but definitely sweet. Not terribly complex.

Pour is a nice hazy orange brew with a thin cream head. Aroma is a leafy, sweet, and spicy. It has an orange-wheat side to the aroma, it isn’t all just the standard grapefruit hoppy smell. The flavor starts out with a creamy sweetness, sugary almost, then into a malt feel-filling the mouth with it. Then the hops go to work and it holds it all together pretty well. Even after the bite from the hops comes in, there is still a wonderful viscous mouthfeel. Not overly hoppy, not too harsh on the palate, its just a nicely balanced (for and IIPA) beer.

11/21/08 notes: bomber, part of tasting. Pours light yellow-orange. Aroma features floral bouquet. Palate was dry, a touch thin, and sticky on the finish. Primary flavors transitioned, from flowery hops on the front-palate, to a nice sweetness with fruit, to a hoppy, slightly ashen finish. Overall, this was quite nice, but lacking the vibrancy of say, GD’s Fresh Hop.
