Commercial Description:
We craft this much like a sculptor who uses only a hammer and chisel to shape stone into a masterpiece. Hoppe is spawned of these few essentials: barley, wheat, hops, yeast and water. This limited palette is an exercise in minimalism, with refined elements which are deliberately selected. This simple combination creates a golden shimmering brew infused with delicate aromas. The artful nature of this beer is exposed with the first taste. As the malt and hops created a composition of flavors, and elegant finish leaves an impression that your tastes will not soon forget. Don't be deceived by th innocence of Hoppe. Please enjoy in moderation.

I’ve yet to be disappointed by a Southern Tier beer, and this one is no exception. Like other Southern Tier beers I’ve tried it has a brilliant and clear appearance and a clean and crisp hoppy flavor. The body of the beer is straw colored, but a brilliantly bright and clear beer with lots of soapy head. Aroma is a very crisp and piney hoppiness. Flavor is also very crisp hop bitterness that is more pine than fruit or grass. Mouthfeel is astringent and drying, belying the IBUs present here. Very good! I really enjoyed this beer; I’d recommend it. I split this bottle with SurlySober; not sure where he found it.

22 oz. bottle, from drewbeerme (I think). Pours slightly hazed, medium amber, with a large whitish head that leaves thick lacing. Nice aroma of summer fruits, floral and citrus hops, apricot and toasty malts. Sweetish, fruity malt character with hints of caramel, piney, floral and ashy hops, buit of honey and orange juice. Medium to full body and creamy carbonation. Nicely done.

Thanks to MPA for sharing. Clear yellow of color with a weak longlasting white head. An aroma of grapefruit, hops, pines and notes of malt. A flavor with notes of malt, liqurice, hops and grapefruit.

22 oz bottle received from SS ’07, holdenn. Pours clear orange with an average, rocky and bubbly white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (lightly toasted grain, meal, cereal), heavy hops (flowers, pine, spruce), average yeast (dough, sweat) with notes of apricot, peach, and apple. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

So stoked to open and try this one! Here goes: Poured a pale tawny body, but as more poured, the color darkened to a light copper-amber. Lumpy thick whitish head that left a luxurious creamy lasting lacing way up the glass. Great grapefruity sweet IT quality nose that reminded me of Three Floyds’ Dreadknaught. Flavor was no Dreadkaught, but quite interesting and favorable/flavorful. Earthy, grassy, wheaty bitter and sweet flavor that was quite nice. And, quite unique. A little rough around the edges, but well worth the taste. NIce bubblegum finish that is much appreciated amidst a hop shortage.

Poured a lightly hazy, yellow amber color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of tangerine, light floral hops, vanilla, and citrus fruits. Taste of orange peel, citrus fruits, grass, toffee malts, and a moderate bitterness, with a bit of alcohol in the finish.

Pours a medium cloudy darker yellow body with a small rocky white head. The aroma is quite hoppy and grainy. Flavor starts with heavy wheat and grain notes followed with a big grapefruit taste with notes of ammonia and alcohol. I’d bet this was much better fresh but there’s no date on the bottle to derive that conclusion from.

12-19-07 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to both demitriustown and holdenn.
Clear amber with a nice white, sudsy head. Great apricot fruity hops smell. Dry and strong hops flavor with a strong, almost thick finish. An interesting, unique finish and ending. After it warmed a bit - things seemed to go downhill -- all I could taste or smell was the alcohol - not my favorite way to finish a beer, when it isn’t balanced or masked properly. Damn.
