| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Slightly cloudy orange with a lasting, yet thin off-white head. Very nice hoppy aroma, leaning towards the lemony, citrus side but there is a bit of floral as well. Medium-bodied. Alcohol leads to a quick warming sensation and a bit of resinous hops initially. Middle reveals a brew definitely towards the hoppy spectrum, some grapefruit and pine I didn’t catch in the aroma. Finish is quick, slightly bitter... no lingering alcohol. Easy drinking, better than average strong ale. sloth (1681), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Pours a small offwhite head, retention is fair with a decent spotty, coating lace. Lightly hazy, somewhat chunky, blond gold hued ale. Nose is spicey hops, light citrus, lightly floral with some light malt notes. Body is medium with a prickly carbonation, lightly resiny and a touch oily. Lightly sweet malt flavors bounce of some aggressive hopping and work well together. Notes of citrus, fruit, peach, some tropical, bready malts, grapefruit, yeasty notes and a bit perfumey. Finish is fairly dry and fruity. An easy drinkin 10%er !!!!!! Recieved from the excellent trader known as AdamB84. Been wanting to give this a try since I noticed it’s release. Hoppe pours a deep golden with random copper highlights. Slight chill haze with tiny carbonation bubbles creeping up to the surface. A one finger white head formed on the pour but quickly receded to a creamy cap leaving lacing along the way. Good looking brew.
Aroma begins with a combination of sweet caramel, unsweetened grapefruit, orange, mango, and a candi sugar like sweetness. Mild wafts of alcohol rise through the air as well. There is a solid dose of hops used in this beer and it makes for interesting and mouthwatering aromas.
The flavor is right along the same lines as the smell. The caramel isn’t as present or sweet as the aroma would suggest but it’s there and creates a solid canvas. Splashed all over the canvas comes a great use of hops adding layers and flavors of tropical fruits. Mango sweetness, over some grapefruit bitterness, over a few drops of orange juice, over a bite of pineapple. Mild alcohol shows on the swallow and adds another layer. Very good flavor.
For such a big beer the mouthfeel is damn close to perfect. Medium body with a very welcomed slickness that just eases right through my mouth. Leaves alcohol warmth and a nice moderate bitterness on the swallow.
Incredibily drinkable for such a big beer. The maltiness balances the citric hops just enough to keep this beer a supremely easy drinker.
My second beer from Southern Tier, the other being Unearthly, and both are a couple of my new favorites. Very unique and enjoyable. I’d buy this and Unearthly by the case if it was available in Illinois. Keep up the great work over there guys.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Slightly hazy straw color. Mild head. Aroma of semi sweet hops , a little pine and mild hints of lemon. Decent lacing on the drinking side of glass. Mouth feel is somewhat sticky and sweet. Tastes pretty much akin to aroma. Did not notice grapefruit like others have. Alcohol burn is not too bad. Worth having now and again. $5.49 a bomber. rocbyter (925), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Moderate amount of floral hops on the nose with a hint of malts. Clear orange color with a small white head. Hops a evident in the taste but a very low amount of bitterness is detected. Finishes with a mild amount of bitterness coming out and sticking to your mouth. Nice mouth feel and alcohol is not noticeable. MHED (112), lisle, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2007 22 oz. btl. pours straw color with slight haze and healthy whit head. Exceptional lacing most likeley due to wheat content. Aroma is lemon grass citrus and light pine. Starts with a deceivingly med-heavy body with som fizz. Malt starts out light and earthy sweet, lending way to a balanced attack of earthy, and wild flowery with some soft pine resin, finishing with a leafy fresh hop aftertaste that lingers nicely, making you want more. Be careful of the strength of this beer as it will catch up. nice early autumn beer. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Poured a clear golden with a large fizzy white head. Aroma of lemony citrus, grass, a touch of pine, and some sweet candy. Flavor is sweet with lots of alochol and some lemony citrus hops and a touch of earthy grass. The hops are not as prominent as I was hoping. The alcohol is the dominant flavor, making it rather sweet and not especially refreshing. The flavor overall is good, but there’s just not enough refreshing flavor to balance the alochol.
