Bottle: Pale golden in color with a large, creamy off-white head. The aroma has a warm and sweet quality from the citrus and caramel notes. Fruity. Taste is smooth, yet seemingly malt oriented. Again, caramel and fruity notes. Light florals and some soapyness in the lightly bitter trailer. I had more hops in mind here...

Oct 4, 2008 Bottle. Amber beer with a thin off-white head. Great resiny, grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit, pine, caramel flavor. Body doesn’t keep up with the flavor - just a little too light. Resin and grapefruit linger with a bit of caramel. A bit of grass starts to show up in the background.

Oct 3, 2008 Pours a clear gold in color with a huge pillowy, carbonated white head sitting atop. Smell is piney and grassy hops. Very good amount of piney hops in the nose. Taste is more of the flavorful hops. Not overly bitter or tongue thrashing. More of the flavorful type. I would prefer if this beer was a bit more of a brute. Without the aspect, this is a very drinkable, smooth beer. Almost too drinkable, especially since the bottle notes the 10% ABV.

Sep 28, 2008 22oz bottle courtesy of Swolf3, thank you Steven. Nice dark yellow/gold color, white head. Nice hop aroma, grassy and a little piney, very subdued. Bitter hopiness in the flavor, not too bad.

Sep 28, 2008 Updated: Sep 29, 200822 oz bottle from Laraway Liquors (New Lenox, IL) shared with a friend. An interesting brew, indeed. Pours a medium goldish hue, lighter than expected, with a decent white head that sustains. Aromas are hoppy, citrus and other fruits that are balanced with a delicate sweetness. Taste is similar, a bit muted, with a more noticeable alcohol presence. Dry finish where the hops are evident, but the pale malts kinda slip into oblivion. Loses itself on its way to its goal. Dissappointing.

Sep 26, 2008 Pours a hazy gold colour with a frothy white head that leaves a beautiful, evenly distributed coating of lace. The nose is sweet and fruity with minimal hop presence. The flavour is immediately zesty and medium-bitter with hints of tropical fruits. It does well to minimize the medicinal tastes that can come from these pale, hoppy brews. The balance is perfect and the drinkability is high. The palate is slightly slick, mildly boozy, and drying in the finish. The palate duration is long, leaving fruity hops and resin bitterness. This is a bold statement by Southern Tier in making a beer that is far from bold, yet still enjoyable.
