May 9, 2009 pours a black with a red tint, a small off white head that goes away quickly, and some lacing.
smell is of fruits (mainly plums and grapes), some sour malt, a touch of floral, and some hops.
taste is of toasted malt, caramel, touch of pine, a little chocolate in the back, and some citrus, end is thick and a little bitter.

May 9, 2009 Very deep dark black beer with a thick tan head. Aroma is pretty awesome. Big bright citrus aroma. Grapefruit, mango, pineapple and a fairly sweet rich malty nose as well.. The nose is fairly simple with just a suggestion of sweet toasted malt. I do get loads of rich bright hops and as it begins to warm up, the deeper cocoa and molasses notes begin to pop up from the back. Flavour has a lovely balance of sweet bright citrus, tropical fruit, mango and chewy molasses maltiness. I can’t say I get a whole lot of roastiness, but there is a deep sweet chocolate character. This is the best of the these new dark IPAs I’ve come across. Sublime, really.

May 8, 2009 2009-05-02. Black body with a modest foamy khaki head. (3+) Aroma is mild overall but has pleasant hop presentation, mild muted sweet dark malt base. (7+) Flavour is hoppy up front with a rich sweet malt middle and a long lingering hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Sweetness of the flavour grows significantly as the glass warms up. May 7, 2009 Poured a deep, dark brown color with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, floral hops, some caramel, citrus, and toffee malts. Taste of caramel, pine, citrus fruits, grapefruit, and a dry, bitter, yet lightly alcoholic finish. Thanks to John for sharing in the lots on Friday.
