| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 9, 2009 Very deep dark black beer with a thick tan head. Aroma is pretty awesome. Big bright citrus aroma. Grapefruit, mango, pineapple and a fairly sweet rich malty nose as well.. The nose is fairly simple with just a suggestion of sweet toasted malt. I do get loads of rich bright hops and as it begins to warm up, the deeper cocoa and molasses notes begin to pop up from the back. Flavour has a lovely balance of sweet bright citrus, tropical fruit, mango and chewy molasses maltiness. I can’t say I get a whole lot of roastiness, but there is a deep sweet chocolate character. This is the best of the these new dark IPAs I’ve come across. Sublime, really. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA
