Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

12 oz. bottle from Ludlow Wines. Pours a clean copper with a frothy off white head that doesn’t stick around long on the beer but lasts on the walls of the glass. Nice aroma of hops, fruit, and spices. Flavor is sweet and bitter with a good punch of hops and a slight soapiness. Dry finish and pleasant aftertaste. Very straightforward, solid IPA.

12oz bottle from total wine in norfolk. pours a clear, orange gold with a thin, bubbly, off white head and light lacing. aroma is pleasant with floral and citrus hops, a touch of pine, and slightly sweet notes of apple and caramel malt. flavor is a bit disppointing, but it’s possible this is an off bottle. the hops are non-existent and i get mostly dry, burnt malts, a bit of toffee, and dry cider. palate is light bodied with medium carbonation and a dry, bitter finish. overall, a weak offering from a great brewery. will re-rate down the road because i suspect this is a bad bottle.

It is orange-golden with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of fruit, spruce and malt. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of caramel, citrus/oranges, other fruits, light soap and dust and the finish has some grapefruit and it’s dry and bitter. Somehow this is not what I expected from this brewer, perhaps I should re-rate it some day, since it’s not as fruity/refreshing as I hoped for...
