Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Taste 2/9 bottle. Looks: Caramel body with a thick top. Aroma: Nice hop blend aroma. Taste: Floral and citrus hops with spice. Beginning and finish are good, just a little unfocused in the middle.

12 oz bottle courtesy of the Binnys Singles Rack (Orland Park, IL). Pours a nice orangish gold hue, moderate white head that retains a little and laces, just barely hazed. Aromas are fresh from the bottle, carmel malt aromas from the pour mixed with gumball candy, hairspray, and light citrusy hops. Initial is a little lighter bodied than most IPAs, moderate carmel malts balanced with a grainy sweetness, light citrusy hops, subtle gumball candy elements. Backend shows more bitterness, but flavor falls off a little. Light bitterness and flavor on the back of the palate, some light grass, aftertaste is light but sustained. Glorified APA?

Bleak looking transparent orange/copper with almost no head, slight white ring. Sweet nose of sugar, cookie, grapefruit, really minor hop. Flavor is ultra-tea, some sugar, very minor bitterness. Rather slick and lifeless, slight carbonation Not very impressive, but from Southern Tier, I’m no longer disappointed by something like this.

very smooth IPA that has a well balanced flavor of floral, pine citrus... had it before a few times but this bottle doesn’t have much head or bitter... might need to update my rating eventually

Bottle from Archer Liquors. Orange gold color with a large, fine off-white head. The aroma isn’t all that sharp - more like floral. Medium body with mild carbonation. The flavor is light roasted malt with a lot of hop, but it isn’t really all that bitter. It’s almost chewy floral/citrus though. Maybe I got lucky with a fresh one? Or it’s so old the bitter evaporated? LOL Really nice and pleasant. Nigh astringent. Excellent.

12oz bottle, 6.0% a/v Nice coppery red colour with a thick offwhite head. The aroma is citrus and pine, definitely one of the american C hops. Very smooth taste well balanced with a definite hop kick in the aftertaste. Very weighty in the mouthfeel and a satisfying drink. This is a great IPA if you love your hops!

12 oz. bottle. Proper amberish IPA pour, head is a little thinner and paler than I expect for the style. Zesty wet hop smell that even my wife in the next room picked up. Taste definitely shows this ought to be an American Pale Ale. Plenty of piney hops, not as high on the citrus, but a good sticky effect on my lip. Good malt balance in caramel shades. One of the better "year-round" IPAs.

12oz bottle, pours a hazy copper with an off white head that lingered for just a little while. aroma is more malty than i thought it would be, not as citrusy as im used to. taste is again more malty than i like my IPA’s, but still very good, smooth palate with a hoppy kick, finishes as good as it starts. a good beer.
