Jul 27, 2008 12oz bottle from MrBendo - thanks for the nice extra, Todd! A vibrant copper/amber pour with some clear and lively carbonation. Big tangerine notes in the nose, along with just a hint of pine for bitter balance. Sweet malts are there for sure, but there’s nothing cloying or syrupy about them; in fact, they don’t so much provide contrast as resonate nicely with the fruits and pine. Very nice, refreshing IPA.

Jul 23, 2008 Bottle: Pours a golden color with a nice white head. The nose is toasty with a rich biscuit and grapefruit note. Some earthiness and grass in the flavor. A light mouthfeel and a moderate body with a deeper toastiness than you get with most IPAs. Not too hoppy but a good pleasant crispness that keeps you interested.

Jul 22, 2008 Pours hazy light orange/copper. Little head, some lacing. Nose- rich malts and woody hops. Taste- cookie and caramel malts give solid backbone. Hop kick is there with earthy, grassy bitter hops. Not getting much of a citrus kick out of them. Finish is dry. Medium bodies with just enough carbonation.

Jul 22, 2008 This was a delightful little nugget. Poured a dark, cloudy copper with a medium head and disappeared pretty quickly. This one had quite a strong smell with a mix of hops and caramel with the flavor being about the same deal. It seemed a different IPA with the caramel being about as strong as the hops. It’s interesting and quite well done.

Jul 21, 2008 Bottle. Deep orange with a large frothy white head. Very strong floral and citrus hop, with mild biscuit malts too. Nicely balanced, with a crisp bitter finish. Solid example of an American style IPA.

Jul 15, 2008 Bouteille de 355 ml bu au Beer Bistro à Toronto, le 11/7/08. Couleur paille ambrée, petit collet. Arome bien houblonné, arome de pêches et d’agrumes, presque pas amère. Goût d’houblon caramelisé, bien amère avec une finission de fruits secs. Un IPA agéable et savoureuse!

Jul 12, 2008 Draft@the Empty Pint and assorted 12oz. bottles. Pours a pretty standard caramel malt slightly orangish amber with an averagwe white head.This has a hop aroma somewhat herbal but lighter than many American IPAs. Ther flavor is much the same, grainy bready slight caramel malt presence, not as hoppy as I would like. This is a solid beer, but not really a top notch IPA in my opinion. I would consider it a great APA, but that is just semantics I guess. I would like to see Southern Tier brew a tweener IPA between this and Unearthly.

Jul 7, 2008 Bottle. I don’t like IPA’s much at all but I enjoyed this one. Nice orange color with white head. Smelled very herbal and hoppy but it really wasn’t as bad as it smelled. Good dry finish. little bit o’ pine and citrus. This might not be a favorite on this sote for the style because the hops really didn’t turn me off and usually IPA’s are hop city. Either that or I’m getting a taste for them. Good drinker on a hot day maybe?
