| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a translucent orange-copper body with a small, white, creamy head. The aroma is quite piney along with notes of sweet bread. Pleasant hop flavour profile - not overly bitter nor astringent. There’s some biscuit bread type underpinnings and a little bit of alcohol to keep things balanced. Finishes with significant chewy hops. yesyouam (609), Fairport, New York, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 8, 2008 Southern Tier IPA is a hazy sienna ale with a small white head with oily bubbles. It leaves good lacing. The aroma is very fresh. It smells like wort being boiled. It’s mostly citrusy centennial hops with sweet caramel underneath. Medium-full bodied and velvety smooth, it leaves the tongue smooth and cleanly. It has a nice piney flavor. It is citrusy and resiny, grassy and a little sweet. The bitterness is strong and in balance with everything else. The aftertaste is faint and of citrus peel and evergreen trees. This is a great example of an American IPA. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2008 12oz bottle. I am beginning to think this is one of the better East Coast breweries. Resinous and caramel aroma. Pine, household cleaner, plastic, agave and tea on the nose well. Pours clear bright orange copper with a thin white head. Bitter and slightly astringent flavor. Slightly soapy. Where’s the pine and caramel? Medium bodied with lively hops and carbonation. I think this one might not be the freshest example of this beer. Too bad. I would love to try a fresh one. All in all, a good IPA and I still really like this brewery. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Nice hoppy aroma. Transparent amber with okay head. Nice hoppy flavor that is very muted though. Not too soapy or intense. Thin palate. Overall, very average. I want more flavor and depth. Rumpleganjskin (34), USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Consistent quality from this brewer. Their IPA is one of my favorites, it has somewhat of a pine hop aroma and a creamy mouth feel. This is a potent brew, like an IPA should be. Not for beginners in beer tasting. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2008 Bottle thanks to davehoward Ver clear amber pour with a medium sized beige head. Floral fruity and tea like sweet hops at first in the aroma, and then they turn to astringent, cleanser like hops which were slighly less pleasant. Taste is also a bit astringent and moderately hopped. Some spicy, green-ness to it as well. Thin bodied however and that detracted from its enjoyment for me. Still a decent IPA overall. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2007 Thanks to Jennifer for this brew--Copper-amber clear body with a fluggy white head. Sticky, sweet, lush nose and full, complex hoppy flavor. The malt balanced out the generous hops quite nicely. Every beer I have had from Southern Tier has been quite good.
