Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

pours a dark amber with a light off white head. aroma is sweet and heavily floral, with citrus, alcohol, and pine evident. taste is sweet grapruit with some bitterness. alcohol evident, but not overpowering. medium-full bodied, a little sticky-sweet, with a nice bitter finish. a little chewy & frothy. nice balance. an awesome, awesome brew, especially if you can get it fresh from the brewery in lakewood, ny. excellent IPA!

On tap at Redbones: Pours a clear medium caramel color with a moderate creamy off-white head. Aroma is of sweet malts, caramel notes and light fruits. Taste is of sweet malts, light fruits and subtle flowery hops, all well blended. Medium bodied and smooth with good carbonation. Ending is of sweet malts, nice light hops and caramel notes. Excellent IPA.

Thanks to Ty5592 for this little NE gem. Pours a dark copper with godd sized off-white head. Citrus hoppy nose with a hint of pine. Flavor is hoppy of course, with a good bit of malt in this medium bodied IPA. Good smooth hoppy finish that calls for another. Solid IPA.

bottle poured a copper golden in color with minimal carbination on the pour and a thin layer of head on the beer. smell is hops, grapefruit, sweet nectar, and some creamy malts. the taste is medium on the mouth feel and has a good harmony with the malts and hops. finish is smooth with a hops bitter. really a nice beer and it came in a mixed 12 pack with four different beers in it, looking forward to the others.

12 oz. brown bottle. No freshness date seen. Pours out a hazy orange color, with a sticky white head. Aromas are of piney hops, not much else. Flavors are pretty standard fare. Typical American IPA in my book. Nothing special here.

Pours an orange copper with a medium off-white head that fades to a small cap. The aroma is of full grapefruity hops and subtle toffee malt in the background. The hops smell very fresh but lack a resiny or piney quality that would help cut the sweetness. The flavour too is very sweet with moderately acidic, grapefruity hops and a caramel malt backbone. The mouthfeel is chewy and the palate is drying. Strait forward but delicious.

This beer pours a decent head with a nice orange color to it. the head dwindles but still has nice laceing around the glass. It has a nice aroma of pine, hops and grapefruit hops. As you drink it there is some nice strong intense flavors of hops and mild malt with a nice citrus grapefruit flavor on the back of your palate. Personally i like the orange peel on the finish.

From a bottle (different label than in picture). Gold-orange color with nice off-white lacy head. Body and carbonation levels are acceptable. This is definitely a balanced IPA, not overly bitter. Grapefruit and pine is offset by a bit of sweetness. Leaves a great aftertaste. Very good.
