Commercial Description:
IPA stands for India Pale Ale and ours is an American version of the classic style. IPA’s namesake lies in its colonial roots. British soldiers on their way to India dark a lot of beer, but found it would go stale on the long voyages. Meanwhile, brewers knew that by adding more hops, the beer would stay fresh. Voila! A new style was born and it is one we are proud to brew. Southern Tier IPA is a triple-hopped on its journey to your glass for a fully aromatic experience.

Golden pour with an off-white moderate head. Decent amount of hops, spice, and citrus. Crisp and dry with the hops dominating the flavor. Very good.

Poured a bright copper color with a fluffy white head that left a good amount of lacing. Wonderful fruity, citrus aroma. Good flavors of orange, grapefruit, and toffee. It was a little bit thin, but overall a solid IPA.

This is a very solid IPA. For a while I’d heard about the wildness of the Southern Tiers and I finally found some, and certainly they did not disappoint. This is unique in the world of IPAs, pretty subdued on the hops and a very "wet" flavor, but masks the substantial abv% quite well. It reminds me of Sierra Nevada Torpedo; but less hopped and better balanced. The smell is wonderful, piney-sweetish and slightly citrusy. Appearance and mouth are run-of-the-mill for IPAs. Very sessionable (most IPAs are to me but this one more than most). I will drink the bejesus out of this brew for as long as I can get it.

12oz bottle from Chevy Chase in DC. Triple-hopped, huh? Just like Miller Lite! Pours a clear golden color with a medium-sized white head and some lacing. Aroma is sweet pale malt, grain, floral and citrus hops. Flavor is a little grainy and sweet with lots of pale malt and some citrusy hops. Medium body with lively carbonation and some hop resins on the palate.

smell is pine, lemon. reddy amber with a disappearing head smooth piney taste, sage, bitter herbs, straight up tastes like hops, that kind of almost cannabis taste, alcohol kind of shines through. medium bodied, nice and smooth. damn good. need to get it again

Pours a bright, clear, yellowish copper from the 12oz. bottle: Nose of citrusy, grassy hops. Taste is similar with more of a malted balance than an overload of hops. I live for that severe overload. Lightly carbonated and bodied, this ale unfortunately feels a little lackluster. Drinkability: A vibrant and solid IPA, but may fall short to hopheads. Rebuy: I mean, it’s SoTi and an IPA! Of course I’m buying again. #201 on 19112009, DG.
