RblWthACoz (959), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 3, 2008 Pours like molasses, thick and almost slow. Pitch black. Small tan head that forms after a few seconds. Amazing. Nose is minor coffee with an extremely full fragrance of dark chocolate. I could take a whiff of this one for hours on end. If it is as good on the flavor as it has been to now, this might just be one to remember. Flavor. Oh my. Hearty like you don’t even know. Massive malts. Molasses is there too. Just a thick funky presenting…I mean, hello! Feel is thick on the liquid but smooth. On the carbonation it is a bit thin, but just right I think. What? Could it be? Another perffect score beer? Man. This is what I love. I am just sitting here, and I decide to have one more beer before I pass out for the night, and what do you know; a perfect scored beer. If you haven’t tried this beer and you willingly pass it up, I have to say I have to question my respect for you. This is a beer that is crafted so well, it absolutely must be tried. I can’t believe I waited so long to try it myself.
Vac (2253), San Diego, California, USA Oct 1, 2008 Pours with a black body topped by a thin, brown head with a good amount of lacing. IT’s sweet and malty with a note of vanilla and cream, some roasted coffee and some fruity alcohol esters. Full bodied, smooth yet warming. Hophead22 (251), Redlands, California, USA Sep 28, 2008 22oz bottle courtesy of Swolf3, thanks Steven. Dark black pour, darkbown head. Nice aroma, coffee and chocolate. Very smooth, alcohol is not very prominent at all. Very drinkable and very dangerous. BelgianBeerGal (973), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bottle on tour of New England. Pours jet black with a tan ring. Aroma is malted milk, roasted malt and chocolate. The flavour is where the coffee hits you. Adds a great bitterness but it balanced out by milky, sweet notes. Unbelievable about the 12 ABV because it only shows up after it warms a good deal. EHopper (142), Minnesota, USA Sep 21, 2008 Black with great sweet coffee nose and flavor, with a hint of malt and even dark fruit far in the background. A bit of sour and a bitter finish complete a very compelling beer. jimhilt (1424), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Sep 20, 2008 Pours a two finger light tan head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Totally black color. Light carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Coffee nose. Flavor is sweet roasted coffee and some chocolate. High ABV is hidden. Nice imperial stout for my 2500th bottle. $8.95 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.
