Pours very nice thick black with minimal dark tan head. As expected coffee and malts are the dominant aromas, with some chocolate and alcohol present. The flavor is excellent, a very well balanced combo of the coffee and malts with a nice finish of the hops. Vanilla is also mildly present in the flavor. The beer is nice and heavy, and although pretty high in alcohol the balanced flavor and nice body make it easy to drink. One of the best Imperial stouts I’ve had.

Oct 1, 2008 Pours with a black body topped by a thin, brown head with a good amount of lacing. IT’s sweet and malty with a note of vanilla and cream, some roasted coffee and some fruity alcohol esters. Full bodied, smooth yet warming.

Sep 26, 2008 Bottle on tour of New England. Pours jet black with a tan ring. Aroma is malted milk, roasted malt and chocolate. The flavour is where the coffee hits you. Adds a great bitterness but it balanced out by milky, sweet notes. Unbelievable about the 12 ABV because it only shows up after it warms a good deal.

Sep 21, 2008 Black with great sweet coffee nose and flavor, with a hint of malt and even dark fruit far in the background. A bit of sour and a bitter finish complete a very compelling beer.

Sep 20, 2008 Pours a two finger light tan head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Totally black color. Light carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Coffee nose. Flavor is sweet roasted coffee and some chocolate. High ABV is hidden. Nice imperial stout for my 2500th bottle. $8.95 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.
