Aroma has tons of sweet malt, vanilla, alcohol, and certainly coffee and milk chocolate. Also some grain and barley present on the nose. Flavor is also very sweet; tons of chocolate and coffee, predominantly. Booze is well hidden; palate on the whole isn’t particularly thick, but still full bodied and glosses over the tongue beautifully. Sweetness isn’t overly cloying, as some of Southern Tier’s darker beers are. Quite a nice brew.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 16, 2009 Pours a deep brown with a nice tan head. Rich and delicious, with dark coffee, sugar, and a strong stout underneath. Aroma is beautifully complex, and the taste is almost perfect, and very smooth and drinkable. A thumbs way up on this one. curly (648), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Solid black, big frothy tan head. Aroma- dark chocolate, roast, cream, spice, alcohol. Taste- mild coffee, thick milk chocolate sweetness. Semi-sweet oaty finish with alcohol and white pepper spiciness. Thin body with a creamy sweetness. madvike (343), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Bottle - Pours black with a bit tan head. Smell is sweet, with bourbon, raisins, whiskey, toffee, teriyaki, and black licorice. Taste is dark malt, soy sauce, bourbon, and a bit of booze. Big, roasty, and decadent, though not a ton of coffee. The coffee notes I got were so dark and rich that they mingle closely with the roast notes and become indistinguishable. It’s chewy in the mouth, but has some biting carbonation that’s a bit unpleasant. Still, a wonderful beer. TonyDiUlio (186), New Jersey, USA

And I’m not a big coffee guy in general, but I still found enjoyment in this beer. Dark brown pour with a light brown thick head. Its aroma was consumed by the jahva beans. same with the taste. Roasted malts all the way through. Good brew. Defreni (1023), Frederiksberg, Denmark
Sød kaffe i duften. Smagen er kaffe domineret med en fin bitterhed fra malten. En tand sød og mundfylden er ikke så imponerende. Ellers fin øl. Maltajo (109), TARRYTOWN, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2009 Bomber Bottle. Dark deep pour with a thin head. Very strong coffee with a rich dark roast taste. Powerful enough to keep you warm on those cold days. Long lasting pallet tpd975 (214), Riverview, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 10, 2009 A: Pours as dark as night with a nice 2 finger head. The head dies down to just a small ring on the outer edge of the glass but there is some very wide lacing and oily residue left behind on the outside of the glass.
S: Big dark aroma. I smell coffee, toffee, and chocolate covered cherries. This one malty masterpiece. Can’t wait for the taste.
T: Love it! Very malty brew right from the start. Dark espresso, bakers chocolate, and cherries. It finishes with a hint of charcoal and the bitterness of fresh hops. The alcohol is present, but not over the top. A very well crafted beer no doubt about it.
M: Very thick and oily. You could pass it off as brownie batter, very good brownie batter at that.
