Commercial Description:
St. Nicholas, aka Santa Claus, is a magical figure, the bringer of gifts and an icon of holiday spirit. Forgotten by most is his evil side kick and enforcer of ‘the list’. European tradition says while St. Nick is busy delivering presents to good little boys and girls, Krampus hands out punishments to the bad. A fanged, goat-horned bully, the Christmas Devil uses sticks and chains to beat the naughty children. Dark malts and aromatic hops create the diabolical spirit of this brew. It is finished with lager yeast and aged cold for no less than 30 days. This Imperial Helles Lager will warm even the darkest hearts. This season, replace the cookies with a bottle of Krampus. If he happens to pay a visit, toast to him with this devilish brew. Merry Kramp-mas to all, and to all a good pint!

Courtesy hopscotch. Pours a golden yellow color with a small, off white head. The aroma is very hop forward with pine and citrus hops providing good bitterness with some earthy spice and caramel malt in the background. The flavor follows suit with orange citrus hops and piney hops showing up front to go with the spice and some toasted caramel to balance things out. Medium, bodied and fully carbonated, which gives this a nice lager feel to it. Pretty solid brew and anoither good effort from these guys.

Definitely not winning any awards for the sexiest name for a beer. Pours a cloudy orange with a nice citrus hop, and a tinge of earthiness. Flavor is bready and caramel malt and a little chalky. Rich malts in the finish with an aggressive bitterness. Not really that familiar with this style, but I didn’t think it was too shabby.

22 oz bottle via Stateline Liquors. Pours a crystal clear copper body with a small fizzy beige head that retained as a thin film. The nose is heavy toasted and caramel maltiness over a nice juicy hoppiness, lightly citrusy with some floral notes as well. The first flavor is big sturdy and thick pale malts with some toasted and caramel qualities. There’s a lot of bright hops without being especially bitter. This is just delicious all around. Lots of both malt and hops, in perfect balance. Mouthfeel is full and thick without any risidual stickiness. Nice moderately fizzy carbonation. Overall, this was pretty solid, among the best of these so-called Imperial Helles beers.

Courtesy hopscotch. The clear, brazen amber body is crowned with a splotchy, off-white film. Micro-spots and flares of lace mark the glass. Aromas are substantially hoppy, bold grassy notes and bright citrus peel showing bitter and lightly peppery over the toasted caramel malt base. Dark spices linger in the background. Flavors again lean towards the hoppy side, grass and orange rinds showing strongest. Green peppercorns lend substantial bite, while toasted grains and moderate caramel lay the malty groundwork. Substantial in body and moderately carbonated, the mouthfeel matches the flavor quite well. Finishes with lingering, peppery spice. Solid brew, and definitely deserving of its lofty style percentile.

Smells of potent sour hops with a faint alcohol/boozey aroma. Pours a nice dark golden amber color with a thick white head. Taste is strong sour hops with some bitter to it. Nice malt balance. Hides the 9% VERY well. Very tasty

Smoke, pine needle, holly? on the nose. Reminds me of pitch. Tawny clear light amber. More pine needle, syrupy sappy, Christmas aroma. The burn comes later in a sticky sweet finish. This bottle may very well encapsulate Christmas morning.

Bomber courtesy of sebletitje. Pours crystal clear copper with off white head. The aroma is full with floral, spice, earthy and citrus hops to go along with sweet solid malt notes. The taste is thick rich sweet malts with solid hop bitterness on top coming from floral, pine, spicy and some mild earthy hop notes. Midway it thins out for a moment before the initial hops and thickish sweet malts run up the flavor flag pole again. Not at all like a Helles in my opinion but tasty nonetheless.

Copper pour with a lasting white head. Sweet , sticky, hop aroma. Flavor is caramel and floral hops, very potent. Alcohol is well-hidden. This tastes more like an IPA than any kind of lager. I love chinook hops, so this one is a winner in my book - drinkable and enjoyable.
